The person I am going to tell you about is Xiaoming,my classmate.He is a skinny boy and wears a pair of thick glasses.Sometimes I wonder whether he will be blown away if the wind is strong enough.Although he looks like a nerd,he is actually pretty good at socializing and always ready to help others.

我要告訴你的人是小明，我的同班同學(xué)。他是個瘦骨嶙峋的男生，總是戴著厚厚的眼鏡。有時候我很好奇，如果風(fēng)足夠大的話，他會不會被吹走。雖然他看起來像個書呆子，但實際上很擅長社交，樂于助人。

When I am with him alone,the most frequent topic we talk about is mathematics.I simply lack a gift in this area.Ever since I was a little kid,this subject has been my nightmare.All the equations,symbols,and theorems do not make sense.No matter how passionate the teacher is in the classroom,his or her words sound like a lullaby and make me sleepy.But contrast,Xiaoming is a genius who can always answer the teacher’s questions and even come up with better solutions than the textbook.

當(dāng)我跟他單獨待在一起的時候，我們最經(jīng)常討論的話題是數(shù)學(xué)。我在這方面缺乏天賦。從我還是個小孩開始，這門課就是我的噩夢。所有的公式、符號和定理都難以理解。不管老師在課堂上多么有激情，他的話聽起來就像催眠曲一樣，讓我瞌睡。相比之下，小明是個天才，總是能夠答出老師的問題，甚至想出比課本上更好的解答方式。

The most important reason why I like to talk with him is that he can explain his thoughts and deductions in plain language and with vivid analogies.Suddenly,the alien maths becomes something I am familiar with,something I can see and understand in everyday life.Although I am still far from obtaining an A+in the exam,I have already avoided the risk of failing the subject.

我喜歡跟他聊天的最主要原因是，他能夠用平實的語言和生動的比喻來解釋他的思路和推導(dǎo)過程。突然之間，陌生的數(shù)學(xué)變成了我熟悉的東西，變成了我在日常生活中能看到能理解的東西。雖然我離拿到A+還有很遠的距離，但我已經(jīng)沒有掛科的風(fēng)險。

I am really grateful to Xiaoming.Without him,my transcript may be left with a stain,which will affect my scholarship and incur criticism from my parents.Also,I am a little jealous.I hope I can have the same talent like him.

我很感謝小明。沒有他的話，我的成績單會被留下污點。這會影響我的獎學(xué)金，并招致父母的批評。此外，我也有點嫉妒。我希望我能擁有跟他一樣的天賦。
