范文1
In Australia, we celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January every year. It is a day we all have off class(1) or work and get together with friends and family to celebrate. Celebrating typically involves having a barbeque in the backyard and enjoying each other's company or going to the beach and soaking up(2) the warm summer sun. The positive side of Australia Day definitely outweighs the negative. It is a time when we can reflect with the people who are close to us on how lucky we are as Australians. On the other hand, while there is a celebration for being Australian it does provide the support those indigenous Australian minorities(3) who are very much in need. We are really happy to have a day like today, such virtue of peaceful life. In the end, Australia Day is always a day I look forward to.
Well, I would like to talk about the Mid-Autumn festival, which is a very important Chinese traditional festival. It falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. On this day, the moon is usually round and bright, which was considered by the ancients as the symbol of family reunion. So the family get-together means a lot on this day. People who work far away from their homes will try to come back for the union. I always celebrate this festival together with my parents and some relatives. We usually have dinner together on that day. My mother and aiunts would prepare the dinner, ?〇r while my father and uncles would help set the table and prepare snacks and beverages. My cousins and I play games in the yard. After the dinner, we would gather in the yard and enjoy the moon while eating the moon-cakes. Eating mooncakes is a custom on the mid-autumn festival. WeVe got different flavors of mooncakes and Chinese people will send mooncakes as gifts to their relatives and friends before the festival. I think this festival is quite important because I cherish the time when family members stay together and share their happiness. As we are now very busy, we rarely have time to accompany our family members, especially those who live far away. These traditional festivals provide us the chances to reunion. We can learn their recent experience, express our feelings on a certain thing and offer advice for each other.
