The man’s problem is that it’s the end of the semester and he needs to rewrite the lab report for his biology class. He has two choices to either stay on campus to revise his report and get his grade now or take an incomplete in the class and submit the paper next semester. I think he should submit the report when he returns in the fall semester. He can take his time and use the whole summer holiday to write the paper. If he needs additional materials, he can always find them on the Internet. Also, by choosing this way he doesn’t have to stay on campus and miss the family reunion this weekend.

一、Task 5考什么
從某種程度上來(lái)說(shuō),Task 5是綜合型題目里比較好拿分?jǐn)?shù)的一個(gè)部分。新托??谡Z(yǔ)考試第五題屬于校園場(chǎng)景,要求考生就大學(xué)生遇到的問(wèn)題提出解決方法。在這個(gè)部分中,考生將聽(tīng)到一段發(fā)生于兩名學(xué)生,或者學(xué)生與教授,或?qū)W生與在校職工之間的對(duì)話,時(shí)長(zhǎng)約為60-90秒,沒(méi)有閱讀內(nèi)容。在對(duì)話中,通常涉及其中一位學(xué)生遇到的問(wèn)題,兩人會(huì)就此問(wèn)題進(jìn)行討論,進(jìn)而得出兩個(gè)解決方法,但是有問(wèn)題的那一方?jīng)]有辦法確定哪一種解決方案比較有效。
和第三題一樣,對(duì)話雙方為一男一女??忌獪?zhǔn)確把握男女雙方究竟誰(shuí)遇到了麻煩。有時(shí),遇到麻煩的學(xué)生會(huì)傾聽(tīng)另一名學(xué)生提出的兩種解決辦法。也有些時(shí)候,遇到問(wèn)題的學(xué)生會(huì)自己想出兩種解決辦法,另一人給出反饋。但是不管是哪種情形,考生都將聽(tīng)到兩種解決問(wèn)題的辦法及其各自的利弊。
對(duì)話結(jié)束后,考生將聽(tīng)到一個(gè)問(wèn)題,該問(wèn)題同時(shí)也會(huì)出現(xiàn)在電腦屏幕上。題目通常會(huì)要求考生簡(jiǎn)要總結(jié)問(wèn)題并快速列舉出兩種解決辦法。而不同于綜合型題目中的其他三個(gè)完全復(fù)述的題目,第五題口語(yǔ)題是唯一一道需要考生提供自己觀點(diǎn)的部分,因此,題目要求中還需要考生選擇自己認(rèn)為比較好的一種解決方法并就自己的選擇給出原因。由于從第五題開(kāi)始考題中沒(méi)有了閱讀部分,考生的準(zhǔn)備時(shí)間從前面的30秒減少到20秒,答題時(shí)間依舊為60秒。而第五題的提問(wèn)形式也是大同小異的,常見(jiàn)問(wèn)法如下:

不難看出,所有問(wèn)題模式的目的都是一致的:要求考生總結(jié)聽(tīng)力里的問(wèn)題及解決方案,但是都需要考生做出自己的選擇并給出做此選擇的原因??忌钑r(shí)刻謹(jǐn)記,口語(yǔ)的第五題是需要有自己的選擇的,不要在總結(jié)完聽(tīng)力內(nèi)容后就此打住。
二、Task 5評(píng)分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)
和第三題一樣,第五題會(huì)按照綜合型題目評(píng)分準(zhǔn)則評(píng)分。評(píng)分時(shí)主要考慮考生的語(yǔ)言表達(dá)能力、語(yǔ)言運(yùn)用能力和話題展開(kāi)能力三個(gè)方面??忌卮饡r(shí)必須“涵蓋題目要求提供的相關(guān)信息”。如果給出的信息不完整或有錯(cuò)誤,那么,即使語(yǔ)言流利、語(yǔ)法正確,也會(huì)被扣分。

怎樣應(yīng)對(duì)托??谡Z(yǔ)task5
1、巧用連接詞和說(shuō)話者語(yǔ)氣,找到問(wèn)題
在托??谡Z(yǔ)考試中,一般情況下,對(duì)話中的一男一女會(huì)從簡(jiǎn)單的一句招呼開(kāi)始,然后立即移動(dòng)到話題上來(lái)。但有時(shí)男生或女生的問(wèn)題并不會(huì)馬上就出來(lái),而是在一番背景介紹之后給出,但是很多同學(xué)往往會(huì)錯(cuò)誤的認(rèn)為這些背景介紹就是‘問(wèn)題’所在。其實(shí)在聽(tīng)聽(tīng)力的時(shí)候,我們通過(guò)辨別他們說(shuō)話的語(yǔ)氣就可以分辨出哪些是背景,哪些是問(wèn)題。因?yàn)楫?dāng)主人公在陳述自己遇到的問(wèn)題的時(shí)候,往往會(huì)夾帶著困惑、疲倦、無(wú)奈或生氣的語(yǔ)氣,他(她)的語(yǔ)氣絕不會(huì)是平平的。
除此之外,連接詞也可以幫你辨別‘問(wèn)題’在哪。在這個(gè)題目中,最常出現(xiàn)的轉(zhuǎn)折詞就是but, 這之后絕對(duì)是主人公的問(wèn)題所在。
就TPO5來(lái)說(shuō),當(dāng)女生用沮喪的語(yǔ)氣說(shuō)出Hi Mark. Uh, I’m OK, I guess, but my schoolwork is really stressing me out.我們基本上就可以斷定這句話就是女生在陳述自己遇到的問(wèn)題了。
2、用筆記摘錄兩個(gè)解決方案并表明態(tài)度
接下來(lái)的對(duì)話中一般會(huì)出現(xiàn)一個(gè)人對(duì)另一個(gè)人的問(wèn)題提出的兩種建議,這兩種建議各有優(yōu)劣,并不是十全十美的。考生在聽(tīng)了這兩個(gè)人的建議之后,要選擇一方。在聽(tīng)到這部分的時(shí)候,建議考生用筆記摘錄下答題要點(diǎn)??忌梢允褂靡恍┧儆浄?hào)以免自己因?yàn)闀?shū)寫(xiě)而跑神,而且不要試圖記下原文,記筆記的內(nèi)容應(yīng)當(dāng)是記錄重點(diǎn)或關(guān)鍵詞,否則會(huì)漏聽(tīng)。此外,考生在做筆記時(shí)參照一下分好角色的格式,如:男和女,或教授和學(xué)生,或人名,這會(huì)讓你的記錄更加有條理,也方便你在陳述時(shí)提取一些重要信息。
比如在這個(gè)題目中,男生非常熱心地提出兩種解決方案:一是建議女生向?qū)熤v明原因,適當(dāng)延長(zhǎng)論文或研究數(shù)學(xué)問(wèn)題的期限;二是建議女生自己擬定一個(gè)短期的工作計(jì)劃表,把每天的時(shí)間作適當(dāng)?shù)膭澐?,不同的時(shí)間段集中解決不同的問(wèn)題,做到有條不紊,持之以恒即可。假如更偏向第二種辦法,便可以在筆記中用上面提到的句型對(duì)該辦法作出肯定:I think it would be better if the woman prepared a schedule.
3、用自己的經(jīng)歷說(shuō)明原因
在描述選擇該辦法的原因時(shí),考生可以利用對(duì)話中所提到的信息,也可以采用自己的經(jīng)歷。因?yàn)門ask 5的內(nèi)容大都和大學(xué)的校園生活息息相關(guān),所以許多考生都可能會(huì)遇到自己很熟悉的甚至有過(guò)類似經(jīng)歷的問(wèn)題,這時(shí)考生大可以結(jié)合自己的親身經(jīng)歷去闡述。
以此題為例,比如選擇第二種辦法的原因可以是:The problem of too much work to do is something that the woman is going to confront in the future as well, and if she learns how to organize a schedule now, this will help her throughout her academic career. 另外考生還可以從兩個(gè)方面著手對(duì)原因作出解釋:一是如上正面說(shuō)明自己所選辦法的好處;二是用自己的實(shí)際經(jīng)歷來(lái)概括另一解決辦法的不足之處。以此題為例,可以說(shuō)另一種辦法有disadvantage:Even though her professors might be willing to give her an extension, they might somehow penalize her for it by grading her assignments more severely. 這樣有了思路和內(nèi)容,闡述起理由來(lái)就更連貫,更順暢了。
最后要提醒考生們的是,對(duì)于解決辦法的選擇并沒(méi)有對(duì)錯(cuò)之分,評(píng)分的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不在于考生最后選擇了哪種辦法,而在于考生是否能恰當(dāng)充分地闡明自己所作選擇的理由。在談到與自身經(jīng)歷相關(guān)的理由時(shí)也要隨時(shí)注意問(wèn)題的焦點(diǎn)是在解決對(duì)話者的問(wèn)題,自己的經(jīng)驗(yàn)只能加以借鑒后轉(zhuǎn)化成自己的想法,而并不是由此便談成自己面臨的狀況了!
