Children spend far too much time in front of a computer and not enough time playing sports. This is resulting in a generation of unhealthy people. Therefore, children should not be allowed to use computers until the age of eighteen. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answers.
With the increasing popularity and wider use of computers in office buildings, at homes, schools and so on, children are having easy access to them nowadays. In fact, many children have made them the best way of killing time, resulting in falling grade and poor health both physically and mentally. However, as I argue in the following essay, there should not be any age limit on the use of computers.
First of all, it is against the progress of science and technology to forbid children to use computers. If an invention can bring about a revolution in science and technology, then it is well worth being popularized in the population, of whom children are an unalienable part, and should also be given priority. This can be easily understood since we all know very well that the future belongs to our children. Therefore, they should not only be allowed but also encouraged to learn to use this modern invention.
Second, schools, parents and the whole society should watch closely to prevent children from spending too much time on the keyboard. By this I mean children are still immature psychologically and sometimes are still unable to tell right from wrong. They should be constantly warned against the harm done by sitting in front of the computer screen for long hours, thus resulting in poor eyesight and poor health. Besides this, we should also prevent them from going on any unhealthy website which shows too much sex and violence.
To sum up, in this information age, it is totally unwise to forbid children to use computers or to go on the Internet, which is almost impossible considering the widespread use of computers in the whole world. A better solution might be for parents and schoolteachers to encourage them to participate in more outdoor activities and to set a time limit for them and watch them closely in case they are exposed to anything unhealthy on the Internet.
