1. What kinds of apps do you often use?

2. What kinds of apps would you like to have in the future?

3. What's the most popular app in your country?

4. What was the first app you used?

5. Do old people in your country like to use apps?

1 i use social apps and knowledge-sharing apps everyday because the two meet my biggest two needs.

2 i think in China there are already all kinds of apps to cater to people's every specific need, so it is hard for me to even name one special original app.But i would like the future world to have more apps for knowledge sharing like Quora and Zhihu(知乎).

3 Definitely the Wechat,China's number one national app.It gets nearly a user pool of 1 billion. And you know what, more than half of them are daily active users. People socialise, buy, have fun and read ,basically do everything on the Wechat.

4 The first app i really used is an app for podcast, named Zune. it is an app developed by Microsoft for the windows phone. i really enjoyed it so much since i can subscribe to and automatically download all kinds of podcasts from BBC,the Guardian and so on with ease.

5 Yeah,of course, how can the smart app developers miss out on so important and vast a population, like 3 hundred million. There are some easy and relaxing game apps for old people and they really enjoy killing some time and even have some online social life over the fun gaming time.

Describe a small company that you think is successful.

You should say:

what the name is

how you know about it

what does this company do

and explain why do you think it is successful.

I want to tell you about a small company called “Two Guys One Pie”. I’m not sure you will have heard of them because they have a very small premises that is a little out-of-the-way. As far as I know, their only location is in the Sanlitun area of Beijing, down a back street, but I’ve heard it through the grapevine that they may be expanding.

I first knew about the shop through a friend of mine who shares my passion for pies. A good pie is like gold dust in Beijing, so if somewhere decent opens that sells them, you can be sure I’ll get wind of it. They do a bit of advertising in local magazines, but I think most people hear about “Two Guys One Pie” from word of mouth.

In my humble opinion, they made the best pies in Beijing. They are hands down the most delicious meat-filled pastry you’ll find this side of Australia! They also have interesting fillings such as Thai Green Curry or Italian Vegetables and are constantly updating their menu to keep people coming back for more.

Considering their humble beginnings, I can only assume their business is a huge success. Judging by the queues, they must be making a pretty penny. On their busiest evenings, people line up down the street to get a taste of their latest offering or old favourites.

1. Do you often look in the mirror?

look into the mirror 照鏡子

every now and then 偶爾/有時(shí)

check my make-up 檢查妝容

check my good looks

check how I look

with the help of…

get rid of… = remove…

sleepies 眼屎

stick around 粘著

be addicted to…

get smudged 暈染了

embarrass oneself 丟臉

Well, sometimes! You know, I’m a lady and I’ve got to make sure I look good 24/7. Plus, every now and then I need to check if I’ve got any sleepies sticking around the corner of my eye.

I guess so. You might not know this, but I’m quite addicted to heavy make-ups and that. So I kind of have to constantly check my face to see if I’ve got my eyeliners smudged. Otherwise I could potentially scare some people. Did that once actually. Was pouring that day, so my whole face was all gone.

Not particularly. You know what, I don’t even own a mirror to be honest. But sometimes I do borrow other people’s mirror for a second just to check the spot on my face. Other than that, I don’t really spend much time looking in some mirrors.

2. Do you often buy mirrors?

誤區(qū):有的同學(xué)會(huì)就用粉餅盒子當(dāng)鏡子,但是英文又不確定怎么講,沒關(guān)系的,稍微解釋一下就行‘I just use my face powder box or container, you know they always come with a powder puff as well as a mirror’

Not at all. In fact, most of the mirrors I’ve got are free, I think. They are either from my friends or just came in some magazines, you know they always put some free gifts in the plastic wrapping.

3. Where do you put mirrors?

hang… on the wall

hang… in the bathroom

be scared 害怕

horror films 恐怖片

all those years 這么多年來

avoid doing…

范例:

Well, if you mean the baby ones for my make-ups and that, I always just stuff them in my handbag. But when it comes to the bigger mirrors, you know the ones you put in the house, I think I might prefer to have one on my bathroom wall or anywhere else except in my bedroom, cause I would be quite scared. You know, I’ve watched too many creepy horror films all those years.
