1. Do you like travelling?
You bet! I am a big fan of travelling around. I spend months all together each year to go somewhere else. I feel that it’s not only an indispensable part of my life, but also can culture my mental development.
2. In which seasons do you prefer to travel?
I guess the autumn is the best time to travel, as it is neither too hot nor too cold, people will feel comfortable to go out. Besides, as the foliage of trees will turn yellow or red, you will find the picturesque views all around you. Wherever you go, you will experience a memorable trip.
3. Would you say your country is a good place for travellers to visit?
Yes, Chinese people are renowned for their hospitality to visitors. And there are also numerous tourist attractions around the country. For instance, you can visit the natural landscape to see the picturesque views, or you can go to the historical relics to know the events through the long Chinese history, or you can just stay at the metropolises to experience the local people’s lifestyle.
Do you ever use a map?
Yeah I do. I mean, I often use a GPS when I’m driving somewhere that I’m not familiar with, and I find it super helpful, because I don’t have a very good sense of direction!
When do you use a map?
Let me have a little think… umm….when do I use a map….umm…. oh yeah, I guess the time when I most often use a map is when I’m on holiday somewhere, because I find it helps give me a better understanding of the place, and also saves me from getting lost.
Who taught you to use a map?
I don’t actually think anyone taught me how to use a map, you know, I kind of just figured it out for myself. And I’ve never really had a problem understanding them because they tend to be pretty self-explanatory, (at least for me anyway).
Do you prefer to use electronic maps or those made of paper?
I’d say I generally prefer using electronic ones, because they basically have more functions. For example, if you’re not sure how to get somewhere, electronic maps will be able to actually highlight the best route to take, and (not just that, but they) also give you detailed timings for each part of the journey, which is something that paper maps can’t really do.
Have you ever asked others for directions?
Yeah, sure I have, and I think it’s fair to say most people have at some stage or other. You know, asking others for directions can save a lot of time wandering around getting hopelessly lost, and I’ve always found people to be very helpful whenever I’ve asked them how to get somewhere.
1. Do you like chocolate?
Yeah I love chocolate! I think it tastes great, and I have to control myself when I start eating it coz it’s just so difficult to stop, if you know what I mean! So yeah, you could say I’m a bit of a chocoholic!
2. How often do you eat chocolate?
If I’m gonna be truthful with you I’d say pretty much every day, which I know is not the most healthy of habits, but I just can’t help it! You know, I always keep a stock of chocolate at home, and I’ll normally have some after lunch or dinner, cos it’s just a really nice way to finish off a meal.
3. What’s your favourite flavor?
I guess it would have to be milk chocolate, simply because for me it tastes the best! I know that dark chocolate’s meant to be, like, the healthiest and all that, but it has a kind of bitter taste to it. And white chocolate’s a little bit too creamy for me, so I normally always go for milk chocolate.
4. Is chocolate expensive in China?
I think it really kind of depends on what chocolate you’re talking about, because there’s a lot which is made here in China that’s pretty cheap. For example, you can get a small bar of chocolate for only a few RMB, which I think’s pretty reasonable.
But if you want really nice chocolate imported from places like Belgium and Switzerland, then it’s pretty expensive. I mean, you’re looking at, like, a hundred RMB for a box, something like that.
5. When was the first time you ate chocolate?
Geez, I honestly can’t remember. I imagine it must have been when I was a small child, but I honestly have no idea what age I was. Let me see…um… If I was to hazard a guess, I’d say I was probably, like, 4 or 5, cos my parents were always really good to me as a child and I’m sure I must have persuaded them at some stage to let me try some!
Describe a foreign country you want to visit but haven't been to.You should say:where this place iswhat it is likewhat you can do in this countryand explain why you want to visit this country.
一般what you can see&do there會(huì)是描述的重點(diǎn)。
一般現(xiàn)在時(shí):在開頭陳述這個(gè)國家的地理狀況的時(shí)候使用(it's located somewhere,it's a ... country);
過去時(shí):因?yàn)檫@個(gè)國家是自己沒有去過的,所以它的一切信息我們肯定都是通過去過的人、電視電影、網(wǎng)絡(luò)等途徑,可能會(huì)說my friend told me that.../ I saw ... on TV/ I got to know about ... from the internet來引出我們對(duì)這個(gè)國家的了解,也就是what you can see;
虛擬語態(tài):如果真的去了這個(gè)國家你會(huì)做些什么,也就是what you would do,當(dāng)然這部分如果不用if從句用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)也是OK的。
比如想去Korea的話,就可以重點(diǎn)說我從Korean melodramas里面看到韓國的各種美食(delicious food&snacks),或者韓國人穿衣服非常stylish所以我想去go on a shopping spree there(spree這個(gè)詞聽起來是不是特別熟悉呢,玩英雄聯(lián)盟的同學(xué)如果你們想不起來的話那真的可以刪游戲了,大殺特殺就是killing spree,shopping spree就是大買特買);如果想去Japan的話,(你們知道有些真實(shí)的理由是不可以講的)所以我們講些健康的比如日本的hot spring非常的famous,想要去experience一下tea ceremony(茶道)和ikebana(花道),也想去taste那里的seafood,sashimi(刺身),kaiseki meals(懷石料理)等。
what you can see in a foreign country: aurora(極光), a magnificent/spectacular/exotic view, more civilised behaviour of local people, the firework festival, the celebration of ... festival, the parade of national festival etc.
what you can do in a foreign country:
water sports, hiking, have a ride on ..., bungee jump, go on a shopping spree, visit theme parks, taste the local food, learn about the local culture etc.
Speaking of a foreign country I'd like to visit, the first one that comes to my mind is the U.S. It's a huge country in North America and it's literally the first foreign country I've ever heard of in my life. Since I was a kid, my dad began to show my the music videos of Michael Jackson and play Mariah Carey's songs all day. These people's names might sound quite old school but at that time they seemed really cool to me. I guess that was the root of my interest in this country. And of course when I become a teenager I began to have passion for hollywood films and TV series, which are mostly about different people realising their American dreams. So the US has always been giving me this impression that anything could happen in that wonderland. From the films and the my geographic knowledges, there're big cities like LA and New York City which are really modern. On the west coast, you can enjoy the sunshine and have a ride on a yacht. I saw girls riding bikes wearing bikini on the streets of LA, and it was surprising that no one would judge them for anything. It's hard to imagine that happening in China to be honest. Also I've seen people bungee jumping in the Big Canyon on the internet, it just seems so thrilling and totally exciting. LA is definitely the city that I long for the most, because I'm really into water sports and those beaches seem really attractive. I guess that's the main reason why I want to visit the US.
