Well, just last weekend my plans were ruined by the weather. The weekends are usually when I’ll travel back home and visit with my parents and family, so that was my plan for last weekend. I’d arranged my schedule and made sure I didn’t have any studying or other things pending… I’d worked during the week to free up the weekend so I could relax and spend two days back home.

But on Friday afternoon the weather started to change look ominous and by Friday evening, when I had planned to leave for home, there was an incredible storm which developed. The rain was torrential with a wind that was gusting and a lot of roads were reported as being flooded… and traffic stopped in various places in the city.

I called home and spoke with my mother and she told me that it was the same there and that I shouldn’t travel in such bad weather because I might get delayed. I was a bit sad, but the weather was so bad nobody really wanted to go out at all. In fact the journey from the university back to my apartment was horrendous. The traffic was terrible and by the time I arrived I was completely soaked because of the rain, so I had to admit that travelling all the way home would not have been a smart choice.

I waited for a couple of hours to see if things would change, but it didn’t, so eventually I gave up on the idea and started to think what I could do instead. I decided to phone a couple of friends and see if they wanted to do something together, and so we got together on Saturday and we spent the day together and in the evening we went to see a movie and then went to a restaurant for a meal. The weather still wasn’t great, but it was at least possible to go out without getting absolutely soaked again. On Sunday, I decided to have a lazy day, you know… just reading, relaxing, and then another friend came to visit me in the evening and so we chatted for a while and then watched a movie in the evening.

Introverts in general like the sense of isolation that rain offers. so naturally I love the rain and can spend hours watching it out a window. I sometimes wish that I lived somewhere that gets more rain. The harder it is coming down, the more I like it. Nothing compares to a good old fashioned thunderstorm.

That said, I do not like being in the rain. I like watching the rain. That constant rhythm that is regular only in its randomness is fascinating. Watching it run down windows is equally interesting. The colors all have deeper saturation during the rain. Everything just feels so clean and that fresh earthy smell is like nothing else.

Landscapes have a surreal quality after the rain with those wispy clouds giving an added element of depth. Soft drizzle drapes everything in a muted air that inspires a sense of peace while and big pattering raindrops seem like a dance of sorts inviting the imagination to new places.

But it can't be that shitty rain that hurts when it falls because the cold ass wind blew it. No no no. It has to be that kind of thunderstorm where its dark outside even though its 2 in the afternoon, and you don't work that day so you are sitting on your porch with a cup of hot tea and honey.. and there are thick, fat rain drops that fall straight down from the cloud, almost slowly, but enough of them that if you walk out onto the warm smooth sidewalk you'll get soaked in warm rain.

Where, while you are sitting on your porch you can feel the little splashes of the rain drops on the top of your feet. And you can smell the rain and see the lightening. When it flashes so bright it lights up your neighborhood for a second and then it goes dark enough that you can see the headlights of cars just trying to go home. Those are my favorite thunderstorms.

I like the sunny days in late spring and early autumn. So it is perfect to have a sunny day in the late spring and early autumn when the temperature will not be too low or too high. Usually I will go outdoors in such weather. The landscape is quite agreeable. There are many different kinds of plants and flowers flourishing along the roadsides. It is delightful to walk on the road to enjoy the beautiful sights. Besides that, I can do all kinds of sports in those sunny days. I can play badminton or tennis, go hiking, jogging or running. I don’t need to wear too many clothes or be afraid of get sunburned, so it’s convenient and cool to do whatever I want. Sometimes I just don’t want to do any work in sunny days, so I will grab a book or some snacks, find myself a seat in the garden and stay there all day.

Weather can greatly affect my mood. I feel energetic and optimistic during these sunny days in the two seasons. It’s just like that the sun has provided me with great energy. I feel confident that everything is under control and everything is hopeful. I’m ready to take challenges and offer help when others need me. But in rainy days, I often feel depressed and gloomy. Apart from that, they are the best days of the year when you could set up a plan and get started about your ambition. For the burning summer and cold winter waiting ahead, you could prepare more to experience the so-called tough time, right? They are full of opportunities.
