Well, I once saved money in order to buy a VIP ticket of the Jay Chou’s live concert. When I was a freshman student, Jay Chou held a live concert in my city. As a crazy fan of Jay Chou, I was eager to buy a VIP ticket in order to have a close contact with my idol. However, as a poor student, it was impossible for me limited living expense. In this case, I decided save money in order to make my dream come true. Firstly, I controlled my daily expense and forced myself to save 10 RMB per day. Secondly, I did some part-time jobs, including giving out the leaflets, tutoring the elementary school students, and so on during the weekends. After one and a half month, I finally saved 1300 RMB in total and bought the VIP ticket I wanted.
To be honest, I was very proud of this experience. I felt that I could earn the money by myself. I felt that I could earn the money by myself. While I was doing those part-time jobs, I realized that it was not an easy task for my parents to earn more money and I would try my best to earn more money in the near future in order to relieve the financial pressure of my parents. Moreover, I also felt very satisfied since I finally saw my idol with my own eyes.
1.Do you keep track of time usually?
I certainly do. I think it’s important for most people nowadays to be able to keep track of time because we are living in a such a fast paced world where, the faster you are at doing things, the more likely you are to be successful.
2.Can you describe yourself as a punctual person?
Well, at least I always try to be on time. But you know, living in a city where traffic jam is an unavoidable part of the daily life makes it difficult to be a punctual person. I wouldn’t want to use it as an excuse so I tend to set out earlier when I go to an appointment just in case.
3.Do you wear a watch?
I like wearing watches and I used to wear them. However, with changing times, I have stopped wearing one.
4.Do you think it is important for an individual to be on time?
I think it is quite of a relative question. So, it mostly depends on the situation. For example, if an individual is late for a meeting or a flight, the person is going to loose lot of things. However, for places like parties or travelling, being very time bound takes a lot of fun out of vacations. Also, if you know someone is waiting for you, one must try to be on time.
5.How do you feel when others are late?
If my entire plan depends on that person, I really don’t like people getting late. Also, being late does not mean skipping five or ten minutes, but beyond that, it really becomes annoying. Specially, in places like movies or a game, where you miss a part of it, if your partner is late. But, for the most part, if I have to not wait for a very long time, I don’t mind too much on people being late.
6.How often are you late?
For most part, I try to be on time, but surely I am not one of those who follow the dot rule. So, being on time for things like meeting up with friends I can be late by five or ten minutes. But, in formal situations like meetings or for flights, I am punctual enough not to cause any trouble.
7.Do you feel guilty when you are late?
Definitely yes, if the team had to wait for me, I do feel bad. But, yet again, it is all about the time they have to wait. For me, being late five minutes is not a big deal in informal situations. But, yes, in formal if I am even late by a minute, I feel a little low, because then there are many eyes looking on you.
8.What are some of the ways by which you think people can come on time?
Well, I believe being on time is just a matter of practice and attitude. So, if every time you are late for the small things that do not matter much, there are more chances that you are likely to be late when big things come up. Also, it is about attitude in a sense, that if you consider the even as important or for that matter the small things in your life important, there are less chances that you shall be late for it.
1.Do you think you could be a teacher?
I don’t think I am suitable to be a teacher, I am not a patient man and cannot bear to repeat the same things frequently. Teachers’ job is really boring to me, you have to make your explanations as easy as possible for students to fully understand. It is a challenging job, I am afraid I cannot do it.
2. Do you have a favourite teacher?
Um… Yeah, I suppose I do, but it’s actually kind of hard to pick out a favourite because I’ve been really lucky with all my teachers. You know, they’ve been really great, at least most of them anyway, but I guess my favourite teacher would have to be my Chinese language teacher, because she was incredible. I mean, the amount of effort she put into her teaching, and her attention to detail, were just amazing. And not only that, but she also showed a genuine care for all of us, which left a really deep impression on me. So yeah, out of all my teachers, I’d say she was probably my favourite.
3.What are the qualities of a good teacher?
I should say a good teacher is one who always is well prepared for the class. And I guess if the person has a good sense of humour that would help because, you know, boring, ah, session, nobody would sit in the class, you know, hours after hours.
4.Should teachers use discipline in the classroom?
Coming from where I, um, am, I think yes, teachers should discipline students. In Korea, students would respect the teachers. My mum’s generation was more so, and my mum had to say one day, she thought teachers don’t eat, don’t go to the toilet, they are demi-Gods and wouldn’t even step on the shadow of the teacher, because you respect the teacher so much. But I don’t think same kind of respect is here and students sometimes misbehave during class hours and I just find it hard to understand.
5.Do you want to be a teacher someday?
Umm! not really. I have not given it that much thought. But among my many career plans, entering in the teaching profession is not the one that ever attracted me.
6. Why people choose to become teachers?
People mostly choose to be teachers because this is the profession which is praised across the world. People always pay proper respect to a teacher regardless of geographical location. Moreover, when the knowledge is spread among the students, the teachers receive an unimaginable pleasure.
7.What kind of person makes a good teacher?
Teaching is considered as the best profession in the world. The teachers help the students to grow. So, to be a good teacher, one needs to be sincere and punctual. Moreover, vast subject knowledge is also required or you cannot share knowledge with your students. Behaving gently with the students is also a standard to be a good teacher.
8.Do you like strict teachers?
Yeah I do. I have no problem with them at all, as long as they’re fair! Because I think, on the whole, they tend to set high standards, and so consequently, that makes us work harder and learn more. And the other good thing about strict teachers is that they keep students in line, which means that the class won’t be interrupted by slackers who just want to joke around and be a nuisance.
