Describe a piece of art (like statue, painting) 一件藝術(shù)品
該題目只有一個信息點:a piece of art 藝術(shù)品。
Describe a piece of art (like statue, painting)
You should say:
What it is 它是什么
Where you saw it 你在哪看到的
What it looked like 看起來如何
How you feel about it 你感覺如何
The piece of art I am going to tell you is Mona Lisa. It is a half-length portrait painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci that has been described as the best known, the most visited, the most sung about, the most parodied and the most valuable work of art in the world.
The painting is thought to be a portrait of Lisa Gherardini, a member of some wealthy family in Florence. The woman sits markedly upright in an armchair with her arms folded, a sign of her reserved posture. Her gaze is fixed on the observer. And with her slightly curved corners of mouth and eyes, she seems to convey a mysterious smile
I firstly saw the picture of this painting on the textbook of art in primary school and my teacher introduced the above background information. A couple of years ago, when I was traveling around Europe, I saw its original piece in Louvre Museum in France. The painting was fixed on the wall in a concrete glass box. In front of it were hundreds of people, who were either admiring it or taking a picture of it. It was nearly impossible to get through and come close. So I only caught a glimpse of it and move on.
Maybe it is because I am short of art talent. Though I know this painting is great, I cannot tell where the beauty lies. In my eyes, there is not big difference between it and the other famous paintings. I do not understand why some people admire it so much.
Describe a piece of artwork or handicraft you made at school.
You should say:
when you made it
what it is like
how you made it
and explain why you made it.
We didn’t do a lot of arts and crafts when I was at school, so when we did it was a big deal. When you’re a kid, glue and paint ismuch more interesting than numbers and books, so it really sticks in your mind.
I remember one year, I was in primary school, so I must have been six or seven years old. It was Mother’s Day and my teacher told us we would make a greeting card for our mum to say thank you to her for raising us and to show that we loved her.
My memory is a little hazy, but I can still recall using the special scissors that you have in school, the ones that are extra safe so that children do not hurt themselves when they try to cut something. We also had the sticks of glue that you have to twist the bottom to get the sticky part. I cut a big heart out of some red paper and stuck it on to a yellow piece of card, then I covered it in glue and poured sparkly stuff all over it.Looking back it seems a bit over the top, but when you’re a child the more the better! Inside I wrote, “I love you, mummy” and drew a very bad picture of me.
Like I said, when you’re a kid you are always excited to make things and get messy with paint and glue. But because it was for my mum I was extra pumped up and wanted to make her the most beautiful card ever! She still has it today, along with a lot of other embarrassing artwork and photos from my childhood.
Describe a building you like
You should say
What it is
Where is is
When you went there
How you know about this building
And explain why you like it
The building that I am going to talk about is the HUANGHELOU, which is called the Yellow Crane Tower in English. It is a traditional Chinese tower located in Wuhan, in central China. This building was built originally in the early probably 220 A.D. and has been renovated in the 1980s.
The first time I went there was probably 10 years ago when I was a teenager. My family to me to Wuhan for travel, and we then booked the tickets to see this building near the Yangtze River.
This Yellow Crane Tower is somewhat different than those Chinese towers that I have seen before. It was not very tall compared with the Famen Temple Tower, but it has its own unique legend in it, and this tower-like building looks pretty historical. This article is from laokaoya website. Do not copy or repost it. Some well-renowned Chinese poets like Li Bai had written some literary masterpieces there.
Why am I so fascinated by this building? Well, I feel that the most important reason is that the mysterious legend that tells that a Taoistic god and his divine crane has some connection to this building which really drives me curious. Plus, it is also an antique building that helps enhance my understanding of the ancient history in China.
Describe a public place that you think nee […]
Describe a public place that you think needs improvements
Describe a public place that you think needs improvements
You should say:
Where this public place is
What it is like
Why you think it needs improvements
And how to make it better
The place I’m going to talk about is the train station of Xi’an, I mean the old one, not the newly built CRH(China Railway High Speed) train station. The very last time I went there was actually last summer when I was visiting an old classmate of mine in College.
The appearance of the city has changed, it’s been better than before, except for the train station where most visitiors from home and abroad could drop by. The time I got out of train, the stinky smell of urine with a mix of some smoke just gently gave me a welcome kiss. You just couldn’t imagine how sad I was when I saw a city where I have once lived for 4 years just seemingly remainedthe same as it was in terms of the public sanitary condition. This article is from Laokaoya website. Do not copy or repost it. What makes me feel even less comfortable was that theft and fraud was still constantly seen there. For example, leading you to a well known 3-star hotel which proved to be just a cheap copy.
I’m not sure what the local government would be thinking about this. Maybe they’ve made some effort in the improvement of the public environment like setting up another brand new train station with higher level public environment. Whereas, the old one still needs some improvements for the sake of the image of the city. It would be really helpful if the government make some laws to regulate the problems. Like what the government in Singapore does, giving them heavy fines, then I guess the situation would become better.
