1.Where are you from?
Well, I am from (…say the place's name you are from…) which is in (…city or district name…). It is a famous town which has a rich tradition and history. I am proud to be born there.
2. Do you live in a village or in a town?
I live in a town which is (…say the town name…). It is in fact a very big town with more than 2 million populations. In recent years very rapid development took place in this town and it looks more like a large modern city these days, specially the northern part of the city.
3. Who do you live with?
I live with my family. My family consists of my parents, my 3 siblings, my grandma and one of our younger uncles. We have a large number of house staffs who work for us and live in our house.
4.What kind of place is it?
This is a large town with a very large number of people living there. The town has two main parts: old town and modern town. The old town reflects the traditional building, old ways of businesses and life and that will give you an impression of history of this town. On the other hand the new part, which is in the northern part of the town, has gone through numerous developments in the last few years and it is usually a busy part. People are amiable, educated and they live with peace and harmony, which is the most attractive part of our town, in my opinion. The city has a small area which is occupied by tea gardens and has a small river and many fountains. This is the most beautiful part in our town. Overall, my town is beautiful and it is a good place to live in.
5. What kinds of people live there?
Well, the population of my town is around 2 million and most of them are educated. That is why majority of them are either service holders or own their own businesses. The people are quite well behaved and amiable. If someone visits our town will get a good impression about the local people. Many people work in their shops and run restaurant businesses. The women are mostly housewives but some of them are in teaching and banking professions as well. The local history of people who originally migrated here 200 years ago is not that much known to us. However, we learned that our ancestors were mostly farmers and they picked this place because the farming land here was fertile.
6. What kind of place do you live in (a house or an apartment)?
Well, I live in a house. This is basically the house my grandfather used to own. After his death my father inherited it and he improved the construction of the house in many aspects. This is a big house with over 2 acres of area. The main house has a three storied building and the large garden in front of the house is the most attractive part of our house. I would say we have more people working for the maintenance of this big house than the number of family members we have.
7.Do you think it’s better to live in a house or an apartment? Why?
I would say living in a house has far more advantages than living in an apartment. Big houses are spacious, have garden and other places while an apartment has comparatively smaller rooms and no additional place. The houses give us an opportunity to live freely and there are very few privacy issues. On the contrary an apartment has some rooms with no place for gardening and playing. The whole building is shares with many other families and that creates the privacy issues. You can reconstruct or build new facilities in a house which is quite impossible in an apartment. However maintaining a big house requires more effort than it is required for an apartment. Finally, I would say I always prefer living in a house than living in an apartment.
1. Can you describe the place where you live?
Well, I live in a high-rise building where the facilities are good in urban area. There are air-conditioning and voice-controlled doors in the building. However, people who live here rarely communicate with their neighbours and they’re quite indifferent to each other.
2. Are the transport facilities to your home very good?
Yes, it’s quite convenient. There’s a subway station not far from where I live. Normally, I take it to go and off work. Plus, actually, a bus station is just near the community, but unfortunately, it’s very crowed during rush hour.
3. Can you describe the room you live in?
Well, my apartment is well decorated. Actually, I have a large coffee table in front of the sofa, so I can put coffee, magazines and different types of snacks on it. And also, the wall of my room is in light green which makes me feel like to be surrounded by the natural world.
4. What can you see when you look out the window of your room?
Sadly, there’s no magnificent scenery out of my window because you know, I live in an apartment in the city centre. However, I can see a small garden over my window, there’re some elderly people playing Tai Chi and doing exercises in the morning.
5. In the future, what type of place would you like to live in?
Well, I am thinking of, may be, I’d choose the house near water, not only because I love different types of seafood but also because I enjoy watching the beautiful sunset over the water. You know what, the most impressive thing living near the sea is that, I can invite my friends and family to come here during weekends to have a party or barbecue near the beach.

I'm going to talk about an occasion when a very close friend of mine visited where I live.
He is a British, and his name is Steven. He was studying in the same university with me in England when we did our Master ’ s last year, and we both lived in the same flat in the university halls of residence. We were so close with each other because we spent a lot of time cooking and talking with each other, but we haven ’ t met for a few months since I left England.
So the occasion was a month ago when he visited China to travel. He had never been to my country before. So, he decided to come to my country to visit me. We were really excited to meet each other again, and he was excited as well to come to my house for the first time. I invited him for dinner, and I myself cooked something very special for him, which was a traditional Chinese dish.
We talked a lot during the meal, and we reminded each other of the memories we shared in England. I was very happy when Steven came to see me. The reason is because we had not had a chance to see each other for a long time, and you know, it always feels good seeing an old friend. The occasion brought back a lot of good memories that I think I can never forget.
1.Where do you live?
I live on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, in a district called Tan Phu, about 15 km from the city centre.
2.Do you live in a house or a flat?
I live in a 3 bedroom flat on the 11th floor of a big apartment building.
3.Who do you live with?
I live there with my wife and little baby son.
4.Is it a big place?
It’s pretty big for a flat. It has 3 large bedrooms, one for my wife and I and one for my son when he gets older. It also has a smaller bedroom that I use as a study and to store things in. The kitchen is small but it is part of a big open plan living room, so there is lots of space for the family.
5.How is your apartment decorated?
I don’t like lots of over the top decoration, so I guess you would describe it as minimalist. The walls are all white and the furniture is also either white or black. There are very few ornaments or pictures because again, I like to keep things quite minimal and I hate clutter.
6.Is there anything you would like to change about your flat?
I would like to have a big balcony. We have a sort of balcony at the moment, but we mainly use it for washing and drying clothes. It would be really nice to have some tables and chairs on a proper balcony, with maybe a few plants, so we could sit there in the evenings and relax.
7. Do you live in a house or an apartment?
I live in a semi-detached house with three bedrooms and a small garden.
8. Which room do you like most in your house? Why?
My favourite room is the kitchen because it looks out onto the back garden, and it's on the side of the house that catches the afternoon sun.
9. Is there anything about your house that you would like to change?
Well, it would be nice if it were a detached house so that we could have windows on the wall that we currently share with our neighbours.
10. Tell me something else about your house.
The previous owners converted the loft into an extra bedroom; that's the quietest room in the house, and the best place to go to do some work.
