1. How often do you read?
讓人放松: loosen up / make someone at ease / cool down
經(jīng)常:usually-quite often-every now and then
有時:sometimes;at times;occasionally;now and then
每周幾次: once a week;every other day;once a week
斷斷續(xù)續(xù):off and on
幾乎從來不:hardly ever;hardly/seldom
2. Do you have any books at home?
I’m a reading man / great reader / bookworm
很多: a great many / a number of / plenty of
不是特別多: few / not much / few and far between
3. Do Chinese people do enough reading?
4. Do Chinese people like to read?
Generally speaking, compared with western countries, the number of Chinese who do reading is far from satisfactory. Even a small percentage of people really love reading, the majority have less intention on it. I mean, they like radio or video better.
5. What kind of people like reading and what kind of people don't like reading very much?
Well,it is really a tough question for me. Please give me a second to organize my words. En, I don’t think there is a clear criterion to classify who likes reading and who doesn't. In my eyes, it’s all up to their willing and interest.
1. Which musical instrument do you like listening to most? (Why?)
My favourite musical instrument to listen to is the guitar. I like the fact that there are different types of guitar, like classical, acoustic and electric. I love the variety of sounds a guitar can make.
2. Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument?
I took some guitar lessons when I was younger and still have a guitar at home. I don't play it much nowadays. I wish I had more time to practise.
3. Do you think children should learn to play an instrument at school?
Yes, I think it's a great skill and it's really enjoyable to be able to play a musical instrument. All children should be given this opportunity.
4. How easy would it be to learn to play an instrument without a teacher?
It would probably be more difficult without a teacher. You need someone to show you what to do and correct your mistakes. You need a lot of discipline to teach yourself.
5.If you could learn to play any musical instrument, what would you choose?
I think I'd probably go for the violin. It's such a beautiful instrument and I think the music that can be played on it can be really haunting and moving. Yes,I'd definitely choose that one.
Describe an important conversation.
You should say:
when it was
who was in the conversation
what it is about
and explain why it is important.
When I was a kid, I was hardly a model student. I had an older brother who was a bit of a rebel, he’d go out drinking and smoking and causing trouble, and I guess some of his bad behaviour rubbed off on me.
I can remember when I was a teenager, I must have been around 17, I had taken my university entrance exam but my grades were dismal. My parents were distraught, they had had such high hopes for me and I remember my mum being in floods of tears. My dad sat me down and we had a long conversation about my future and the direction I was heading in. He calmly told me I had a second chance to repeat the test and make my family proud. He said that I should take a long, hard look at myself and picture where I wanted to be in 10 years time.
At first I dug in my heels, but eventually my father’s words sank in and I realised I needed to knuckle down and study. I hit the books hard and over the course of the year I was more and more prepared. In the end, I got a good grade and was able to attend university.
I feel like that was one of the most important conversations I’ve ever had. I knew that he was speaking from the heart and that I couldn’t disappoint him any longer. My dad’s words of wisdom were a real wake-up call and it turned out to be a major turning point in my life.

Describe something you learned in a place/from a person
You should say:
What was it that you learned
When did this happen
Where was it/ Who taught you
How difficult was it to learn
Several years ago, I tried to learn how to bake cakes in rice cooker and succeeded in making it. My roommate is a baking genius and she taught me to bake cakes at home.
Learning how to bake cakes in rice cooker was pretty difficult because of several reasons. First of all, the portions of materials used were hard to control because I didn't have enough professional cooking tools. I estimated all the materials and merged together. I actually failed once, and succeeded at the second time. Secondly, baking cakes in rice cooker is different from baking in oven. I couldn't change the temperature of rice cooker and I couldn't know how well the cake became with the time passing by either. I had to guess and make sure the cake was not over-cooked. I had to pay more attention to the cake and couldn't leave the cake alone. The last difficult thing was how to take the cake out of the rice cooker. I had to slip the whole cake into a plate with some skills.
