范文

This last winter we escaped the cold and headed off to the warmth of a tropical climate in Bangkok, Thailand. On the second day we headed to a night bazaar by bus and it was a fantastic experience. We got some basic directions from our hotel front desk and headed off for to explore. Bangkok is very tourist-friendly so getting around was a breeze.

We chose to go by bus, because this gave us a bird's eye view of the sights and sounds of this famous city. The bus was a bit hot and stuff and without a/c so by the time we got to the night market we were sweating like pigs. The experience was one I don't think I would like anytime soon.

We saw some amazing sights, from the historic palaces through to tuk-tuks and backpackers spread throughout the city. The night market was really a great experience. We bought a bunch of souvenirs and Thai snacks and ate some of the local delicacies. Bangkok is a city that never sleeps, and we were like kids in a candy store.

The trip made me feel really energized and motivated to travel more in the future. It sparked my interest in southeast Asia and since then I have been to a few more similar countries. I feel alive when I travel and experience new adventures.

There are a lot of foods I like. It is quite difficult to think of one. So, let me talk about a popular menu in my country which is one of my favoritefoods also. It is steamed/plain rice and chicken adobo. “Adobo” is the local name. Adobo can bebeef, pork, chicken, fish or even vegetablesbut I like the chicken adobo particularly.

I will talk about how I cook my very own chicken adobo. A small amount of oil is placed in a heated pan. Then, sauté (fried quickly in a little hot fat) garlic until it turns golden brown. Add in onions. Add the chicken and sauté until it turns a little brown. Pour in about 2 cups of water andlet it boil. After about 30 minutes, add about 2 spoonful of sugar, whole peppercorns and let it simmer. Then add about one fourth cup of so sauce and let it boil for about 5 minutes. Then it is done and ready to be served. You may also add some vegetables like potatoes or fruits like banana or pineapple.

I like it because it is easy to prepare and it is verydelicious. I am not quite sure about itsnutritional benefits but I am sure that we can get some nutrients in it too, especially if vegetables are added.

This recipe is common in my country and I eat it about three to four times a week. I like it because it does not require much effort to prepare and it is also not expensive.

雅思口語傳統(tǒng)節(jié)日話題

Describe a traditional festival.

You should say:

what it is

when it is celebrated

how it is celebrated

and explain how you feel about this traditional festival.

We have many traditional festivals in China, the most famous one being Spring Fes-tival, or Chinese New Year. But I’d like to talk about a festival that occurs every year around September or early October, called Zhong Qiu Jie, or Mid-Autumn Day. It is perhaps lesser-known outside of China, but it is personally one of my favourite fes-tivals and one that I look forward to every year.

As the name suggests, Mid-Autumn Day should take place around the middle of au-tumn. The reason the date changes is because it should be the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, and this changes in the Western calen-dar depending on the year.

The reason it is one of my favourite festivals is because we eat moon cakes! As well as being delicious, moon cakes have a special meaning. They are round, which is a symbol of family and togetherness. They usually have a sweet filling, which represents a sweet and happy life. Moon cakes are generally only around at this time of year, so it’s important to make the most of them while you can.

As you can tell, I’m a big fan of Mid-Autumn Day. It makes me feel warm, thinking about my family, and a little nostalgic as I remember all the years I have eaten moon cakes. I think it’s very important to keep these traditional festivals going as they rein-force Chinese culture and remind us to think about our families at a time when more and more people may live a long way from home.
