Do you like to watch films?

I’m really into watching films because some films are very entertaining and provoking. I sometimes go to the cinema with my friends and family to enjoy our leisure time on the weekends.

How often do you go to a cinema or watch a movie?

I go the the cinema to watch movies from time to time. Normally if I’m not busy with my work, I’ll check out the movies to see whether there are any movies that attract me; but if I have lots of things on my hands, I’ll probably focus on my work.

What was the first film that you watched?

The first film that I watched was the Lion King many years ago in the cinema with my parents. What I can remember now is the terrific animation and the amazing soundtrack. i particularly liked the song Can You Feel the Love Tonight that I knew it was produced by Elton John. And I’ve learned lessons from this movie. It is about living up to our responsibilities, no matter how hard it is.

How often do you visit cinema for watching films?

For most part, I like watching films at my home under by blanket. But, when there are lot of my friends going out, I do company them. However, this does not happen very often. So, one can say, if the movie is really nice and we all friends want to have some fun together, we go to cinema.

Describe a small company that you think is successful.

You should say:

what the name is

how you know about it

what does this company do

and explain why do you think it is successful.

I want to tell you about a small company called “Two Guys One Pie”. I’m not sure you will have heard of them because they have a very small premises that is a little out-of-the-way. As far as I know, their only location is in the Sanlitun area of Beijing, down a back street, but I’ve heard it through the grapevine that they may be expanding.

I first knew about the shop through a friend of mine who shares my passion for pies. A good pie is like gold dust in Beijing, so if somewhere decent opens that sells them, you can be sure I’ll get wind of it. They do a bit of advertising in local magazines, but I think most people hear about “Two Guys One Pie” from word of mouth.

In my humble opinion, they made the best pies in Beijing. They are hands down the most delicious meat-filled pastry you’ll find this side of Australia! They also have interesting fillings such as Thai Green Curry or Italian Vegetables and are constantly updating their menu to keep people coming back for more.

Considering their humble beginnings, I can only assume their business is a huge success. Judging by the queues, they must be making a pretty penny. On their busiest evenings, people line up down the street to get a taste of their latest offering or old favourites.

Describe a historical period that you are interested in

You should say:

What the historical period is

How you know it

What happened during that period

Why you find it interesting

Speaking of a period of history that I fond of,I would like to talk something about the Middle age. Life in the Middle Ages was completely different than we see it today. Some reflections of life of that period are found in cinemas but most of them are unrealistic. They are filled with fantasies. The real life in the Middle Ages was filled with classifications and the feudal system dominated the entire society. And most importantly, people were superstitious to a great extent. This is a very smart candidate task card and I am happy to have it in my share.

In some terms, living in the Middle Ages was beneficial. Life was not so much complicated as it is found today. People used to live near nature. And there were fewer traffic congestions in the streets. Though the streets remained crowded round the day, there were no troubles among the pedestrians and people used to live in their own way. Minding the own business was the key task. The other important benefit was that they did not think so much about the career or about the other silly issues that matter most in the present day.

But there were some drawbacks as well. The classification was the most important obstacle of this age. People were classified into various groups and the noblemen used to dominate the poorer section of the society. The scope of entertainment was limited and the lower parts of the society had no or little access to such activities. The daily life in this age was the subject of wealth and power.

I would like to have lived in that period of time. In fact, a fascination works in me about that age. I have seen numerous events in movies and got addicted to the age. So, I want to travel in the streets with a dimmed lantern with me and enjoy the views around.

Describe a traditional festival.

You should say:

what it is

when it is celebrated

how it is celebrated

and explain how you feel about this traditional festival.

We have many traditional festivals in China, the most famous one being Spring Fes-tival, or Chinese New Year. But I’d like to talk about a festival that occurs every year around September or early October, called Zhong Qiu Jie, or Mid-Autumn Day. It is perhaps lesser-known outside of China, but it is personally one of my favourite fes-tivals and one that I look forward to every year.

As the name suggests, Mid-Autumn Day should take place around the middle of au-tumn. The reason the date changes is because it should be the fifteenth day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, and this changes in the Western calen-dar depending on the year.

The reason it is one of my favourite festivals is because we eat moon cakes! As well as being delicious, moon cakes have a special meaning. They are round, which is a symbol of family and togetherness. They usually have a sweet filling, which represents a sweet and happy life. Moon cakes are generally only around at this time of year, so it’s important to make the most of them while you can.

As you can tell, I’m a big fan of Mid-Autumn Day. It makes me feel warm, thinking about my family, and a little nostalgic as I remember all the years I have eaten moon cakes. I think it’s very important to keep these traditional festivals going as they rein-force Chinese culture and remind us to think about our families at a time when more and more people may live a long way from home.
