Describe an important letter you received You should say:
When you received it 你什么時候收到的
Who sent it 誰寄的這封信
What it was about 它的內(nèi)容是什么
And explain why it was important
The important letter I am going to tell you is an offer from University College of London. About the same time last year, I embarked on the application for universities in the United Kingdom, hoping that I could complete my mater degree there. I submitted all the required materials and began the anxious waiting. Seven months had passed. The application windows of many universities gradually closed and a lot of students around me had received their offers. However, among the three colleges I had applied for, one had declined me, one had put me on the hopeless waiting list, and the last on UCL, where I wanted to go most, still had no news. I began to wonder that maybe I could never go to study in UK.
One day afternoon, I went to play badminton with my roommates. During the break, I complained to him about my application experience. Right at that moment, my friend came over and said there was a letter for me. It turned out to be from the UCL student admission office. My heart immediately began to bump frantically. I could literally feel it at my throat. I could not help to wondering if it was another rejection. I took a deep breath and opened it. Right at the top, it stated that ‘Dear XXX, congratulations’. I was so excited that I started to whoop in the badminton court even before I finished reading it.
This letter changed my life. I had been planning to work after graduation. But now, I will go the United Kingdom and realize my dream.

Ok, well I suppose one of the most important letters I’ve received was an offer letter from a university I applied to – Leeds University, to be precise – so that’s what I think I’ll talk about.
And as for who the letter was from, well, I can't quite remember the name of the actual person who wrote it, I’m afraid, but if I’m not mistaken, it was sent by the university admissions office, who I guess are responsible for handling such matters.
Anyway, regarding what the letter was about, well basically, it was just informing me that I had been accepted onto their Master’s program in Finance, so it was really great news for me, because this was the course that I most wanted to study, and out of all the various universities that I applied to, Leeds was definitely top of my list, as it was the one that most appealed to me, in terms of both the course content and social life.
So, as you can imagine, I was over the moon after receiving the offer. I mean, it felt like all the years of hard work I’ve put into my studies seemed to have finally paid off, so it was like a dream come true for me, it really was.
And finally then, with regard to why this letter was important, well, I think it goes without saying that it was extremely important, because essentially, it means that I’m gonna be able to study abroad, which I’m sure will have a huge impact on my future career, as it will hopefully enable me to apply for jobs which I wouldn’t have otherwise been considered for.
And as well as this, I reckon that studying abroad will help me become more mature and independent, which I’ve noticed has happened with a few of my friends who have spent some time abroad, and I’m sure this’ll have a positive effect on my life in general.
So it’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m really looking forward to it!

范文
It is quite interesting to think of an important letter I’ve ever received. Nowadays, it is really rare to get a letter in the post, since most business and personal communications seem to happen by email. However, believe it or not, for a small child who really loves old-fashioned stuff, to receive an actual physical letter, carefully folded in an envelope, is something really exciting.
Due to an influenza I accidentally caught, I had to spend my eighth birthday in hospital. At that age, I hadn’t really received any letters before and certainly wasn’t expecting to receive one whilst I was ill. Therefore, it was a wonderful surprise one morning to be given an envelope with my name and address beautifully hand-written on it and bearing a stamp from overseas in the top right-hand corner.
The letter was from my uncle Chow. He was living in America at the time, and I was in China. He said in the letter that he’d wanted to send me a birthday cake, but later thought it unpractical over such a long distance, so instead he drew me a picture of an amazing birthday cake and a whole party with balloons and presents. As you can see, his letter was to wish me a happy birthday, and to cheer me up because it was horrible for anyone to be in hospital at any time, let alone for an eight-year-old girl to be in hospital on her birthday.
I was totally in awe after reading the letter. Turned out my uncle was actually quite a good artist. His illustration was really good, and the letter cheered me up and made me feel cherished.
To me, this letter was a start of a great correspondence between me and my, to me, ‘exotic’ uncle who lived overseas. He and I continued to exchange letters over the years, right up until the time he died. His were always hand-written, though mine moved over to being typed, but we never resorted to email, so the ritual of a letter thudding through a letterbox and onto the welcoming doormat of home continued between us long after many others had abandoned such an old-fashioned form of communication.

Sample answer:
The most important letter that I have received ever is the one that was from the Falcon University confirming that I have been accepted in their B.B.A program. I can't exactly remember the name of the person who wrote it to me but it was from the Falcon University admin department.
I was simply overwhelmed about the letter as I have been dreaming for a long to do my graduation in B.B.A specifically in the Falcon University. The letter was the confirmation that my dream has come true and my hard work and determination have been paid off. I felt like flying in the sky. I let my parents and close friends know about the acceptance and they were happy too.
The letter was written in the official pad of the Falcon University and signed by the head of the B.B.A admission department. There were only 4-5 paragraphs on the papers and they were printed either they were very exciting for me. I read the letter twice and kept it in a nice place as if I was hiding a treasure.
The letter was utterly important to me as it expressed and confirmed that my dream about studying in the Falcon University has come in to reality.
