In some countries children become richer, safer and healthier, but they are not happy. Why? What is the solution? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your knowledge or experience.

Nowadays, with the development of technology and economy, living conditions of youngster have been improved substantially. However, it is surprising that the level of their happiness does not grow correspondingly. In this essay, I will give possible reasons and solutions to this issue.

Firstly, as the young generation grow up and live in a time when there is much more abundant materials, they take for granted their high living standard and become less sensitive to any improvement in this regard. On the other hand, their spiritual need cannot satisfy due to the loss of traditional values. They strive for fame and profit and suffer from high stress every day, but get disoriented in a fast-changing world and have no idea about the ultimate goal of their lives.

In addition, as many young people were spoilt by their parents in their childhood, they become self-centered, inconsiderate and apathetic. All they care about is no more than their personal interests and feelings, instead of having a charitable heart for giving and helping others. Therefore, love and care, the key elements connecting people together emotionally, are fading. Therefore, young people gradually become indifferent from their friends and families, which then trapping them into negative emotions like loneliness, depression and anxiety.

To address this problem, young people should realize that the main solution lies with their own change. They should shift their attention from the pursuit of fame and money to their families and a balanced life. Also, engaging in interpersonal activities like parties and sports with friends is an idea way that helping young generations recover their emotional pleasure and well-being back, because sharing true feelings, experience and inner-heart ideas with others is a wonderful means of relieving stress, mentally.

Subsequently, it is a commonly shared convention that social traditions are considered as the characteristics of a nation. The heritage of those characteristics would largely ensure a country’s cultural diversity. However, if young people do not follow their social traditions, the integrity of their culture will suffer from a considerable loss.

However, although it seems to be beneficial for the youth to behave within the confines of their social traditions, we should not neglect the blessings to which allowing them to behave freely will contribute. They tend to be rather restricted because of the pressure stemmed from the tradition of their community and consequently there is a higher possibility for them to become less creative in areas, where innovation is highly demanded, including advertising industry. By contrast, if they are allowed to behave as they wish to, young people are more likely to become innovative. As a result of this, they may fully stretch their potential, thereby contributing as much as they could to the fields they are specialized in.

In conclusion, young people need the traditions of their community to regulate their own behavior and following them may significantly help in achieving this. However, the youth being allowed to behave freely is equally important in terms of creating an innovative generation.

Nowadays, a throw-and-away culture has encouraged the public to buy new goods to replace old ones in a short period, instead of repairing them. In my view, there are many factors contributing to this phenomenon, and it brings negative impacts on the environment.

Actually, many reasons are behind this trend, and the first one is about economic prosperity. With the combination of annual increasing wages and falling costs of commodities caused by automatic industrial production, today people have more disposable money for purchasing goods. Therefore, compared with delivering old goods and facilities to repair shop, people with higher-level affordability believe that it is easier and more convenient to buy new ones directly. Secondly, advertisements, which play a role of trend maker, tempt people into buying new items. For example, commercials consistently ignite people's desires for consumption of the newest fashion, makeup, or updating the most advanced household appliances or electronic devices. In this way, old goods would be forgotten and abandoned timely, because they are thought to be out of mode.

When it comes to the influence of this trend, unfortunately, there is no denying that it is seriously detrimental to the environment. For one thing, as more new goods are bought, the whole industry expands. Expectedly, more natural resources like mines, woods, and fossil fuels would be exploited, which leads to the deforestation and devegetation. Besides, during the process of manufacturing, excessive amount of CO2, smog and chemical wastes would be discharged into the air, water and soil, thus deteriorating the environmental pollution. What is more, a number of broken electronic devices like TVs, computers and cell phones would be beyond the limit of the capacity of landfill, which means surrounding land would be degenerated with toxic wastes of heavy metals.

The most worrying aspect is that in a throw-away society, average people have awareness of goods reusing or recycling, so that one-off goods are prevailing. Consequently, streets, parks and shopping centers are filled with massive litters of wasted plastic bags, cups, bags, glass bottles.
