Describe a Family Member

Your should say:
Who this person is.
What this person is like.
How you are like and unlike this person.
And explain why you are close to this person.
a famous person/a child/an old person/a favorite teacher/a close family member/a close friend
而且現(xiàn)在又出現(xiàn)了一些新的表現(xiàn)方式,如:an interesting person/a happiest person 等。
Who this person is. (人物,e.g. my mother)
What this person is like.
How you are like and unlike this person. (比較和對(duì)比,similarities – looks & hobbies; differences -- personality)
Why you are close to this person.
Sample Answer (with key words underlined):
The person I am very close to in my family is my mother. My mother is medium height who always wears a friendly smile on her face. Blue is her favorite color as she thinks it symbols peace and emotion. I think is has a lot to do with her personality. As a music teacher, she is always very patient and kind to her students. There are quite a few similarities between us. People all say that I look like my mother more than my father. We both like listening to the music and watching movies.
On weekends, we often go shopping in the supermarkets or department stores. But we are also different in many ways. My mother is a good gardener. Our veranda is lined with all her gardening masterpieces, such as chrysanthemum and Chinese roses. I am not so patient in taking care of the plants. Besides, my mother can cook many delicious dishes, while I can’t at all. I have learned how to treat people and how to deal with problems on my own from her. She is the one I am close to as she really influences me a lot.
(Sorry. I am gonna stop you there.)
Describe a polite person you know.
You should say:
Who the person is
How you know the person
What the person looks like
And explain why you think the person is polite.
范文:
Ok, right then, well the person I'd like to talk to you about is a very good friend of mine called Matthew, the reason being that he must be one of the nicest and most polite people I know, which I'll come to explain in a moment.
But firstly, as for how I know him, well we've basically known each other since middle school, because we were in the same class together, and we still see quite a lot of each other. You know, if I feel like going out and doing something, I normally give him a call and see if he's free to meet up.
And moving on to why I think he's so polite, well it's basically because he's just got really good manners. And just to give you an example, he always says thank you to people, even for the slightest thing. For instance,I've noticed that whenever we're eating at a restaurant, he will thank the waiters and waitresses every time they bring a dish to the table. And another example would be that whenever he gets off a bus, he will always say thank you to the driver, which a lot of people probably think isn't necessary, but I'm sure the bus drivers really appreciate it, as do the waiters and waitresses, because it's not all that often they hear people thanking them!
So yeah, that's basically why I'd say he's such a polite person, and I'm just trying to think if there's anything more to add, um……, oh yeah, and one other thing to mention would be that he's always very complimentary to people. So what I mean is that he tends to always say nice things to people, for example he might make a comment about how nice someone's looking, or how good their cooking is, which I know might be seen as being a bit um,…what's the word……um… insincere, but I think he genuinely means what he says, at least most of the time anyway!
And I mean, I can't remember a single time when he's ever been rude or unpleasant to anyone, and I also can't really imagine him being nasty to anyone either.
So yeah, that's pretty much it then. Thanks for listening.

I love to meet new people. Today, I would like to talk about a charismatic person I met a year ago.
Last year I was going to Mumbai by train for an official meeting. On the way, a young lady boarded the train from a small railway station. She occupied the seat in front of me. Very soon we started talking about our hobbies, studies and work etc. Her name was Sukriti Singh. She was a second-year student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
One particular thing which made her quite special was her high confidence level. Normally, girls don’t travel alone in my country. In most cases, they are accompanied by their parents or some other family member. But, since she was on her own, that clearly reflected her boldness.
I found this girl very interesting. Her in-depth knowledge of latest technology and space science made me re-think about my opinion about females. I used to think that Indian women are only interested in fashion. Science is not their cup of tea. But, this meeting was a real mind-changer. She helped open my eyes towards the common attitude of ignorance males have towards females regarding their intelligence. Now, I fully understand that women have the potential to succeed in any field.

What did you do?
Why do you want to know more about him or her?
Inga
I’d like to tell you about somebody I met online a couple of weeks ago. This person lives in another country and we met in a Skype chat group. We were there to practice speaking English.
There were about six of us at the time. There was one person in particular that I thought was very interesting, and she spoke very good English, so I asked to chat with her after the session and that’s when we really chatted a lot and got to know each other a little better.
She was from Switzerland and she was a student, her name was Inga. For me she was very interesting because her life is very different from mine. I have two sisters, but I don’t really spend that much time with them, but this girl was definitely interesting to chat to.
She is a student at university, doing a Masters Degree in Business Administration, which is sort of similar to what I would like to do in the future. We first started chatting because we have a common interest – salsa dancing.
For me it’s the most natural thing in the world because my mother was a dance teacher so I grew up learning all different types of dance and salsa was always one of my favorites. Inga is taking salsa lessons in her hometown, her teacher is from somewhere in Cuba, I can’t remember the name of the city, but he’s a professional dancer and also gives classes in a dance school. We spent quite some time discussing different steps and techniques- it was fun.
I found Inga interesting because her lifestyle is completely different from mine, so i really want to know more about her. I have never been to Europe and some of the things she was describing were amazing. I think I’d like to visit her and her place and see what it’s like for myself. It was intriguing to learn some things about another person’s life, country and culture. I get the impression that Europe is very different from the USA. So that's my story about an interesting person I met recently.
