Describe a decision made by others that you disagreed with.

描述一個你不同意的決定。

You should say:

What the decision was;

How it was made;

What you disagreed with;

And explain why you disagreed with it.

Well, I gotta say I disagree with my parents’ decision about my path after graduation from oversea studies.

You know, I am taking the IELTS now and plan to further my study in the UK. And after graduation, my intention is to stay in the UK and get a job there. I mean compared with the environment in Beijing, UK will be a better choice. I am sure if you have stayed in China for a while, you might have realized the serious air pollution problems like smog or PM 2.5. The traffic here never stops bringing troubles to residents by presenting traffic jams. And the ridiculously high property price destroys dreams of so many young couples.

And as far as I am concerned, UK is a pretty nice country. Natural environment is well preserved and we can always see the blue sky, while clouds, clear sea waters and clean streets. We can even see the stars clearly dotted in the night sky. And it is true that the educational system in the UK ranks top and it offers optimal business opportunities as well.

However, the sad thing is that my parents strongly insist that I come back to Beijing and work here after graduation. They believe that home is always the first choice to them, however dirty or polluted it is. And as said by my mother, if I could work in Beijing, all my families will be close-by and it will be easier for them to visit me or I visit them. Despite all our problems in the city, it can get better, which can be proved by the policies of support clean energy, advocating green transport, updating industries of heavy pollution.

I don’t agree with them honestly. But what is funny is that I haven’t even got accepted by a UK university and they have made their decisions about what I shall do after graduation. You know, parents are always like that.

You should say:

When you received it

Who sent it

What it was about

Why it was important to you

Ok, well I suppose one of the most important letters I’ve received was an offer letter from a university I applied to – Leeds University, to be precise – so that’s what I think I’ll talk about.

And as for who the letter was from, well, I can't quite remember the name of the actual person who wrote it, I’m afraid, but if I’m not mistaken, it was sent by the university admissions office, who I guess are responsible for handling such matters.

Anyway, regarding what the letter was about, well basically, it was just informing me that I had been accepted onto their Master’s program in Finance, so it was really great news for me, because this was the course that I most wanted to study, and out of all the various universities that I applied to, Leeds was definitely top of my list, as it was the one that most appealed to me, in terms of both the course content and social life.

So, as you can imagine, I was over the moon after receiving the offer. I mean, it felt like all the years of hard work I’ve put into my studies seemed to have finally paid off, so it was like a dream come true for me, it really was.

And finally then, with regard to why this letter was important, well, I think it goes without saying that it was extremely important, because essentially, it means that I’m gonna be able to study abroad, which I’m sure will have a huge impact on my future career, as it will hopefully enable me to apply for jobs which I wouldn’t have otherwise been considered for.

And as well as this, I reckon that studying abroad will help me become more mature and independent, which I’ve noticed has happened with a few of my friends who have spent some time abroad, and I’m sure this’ll have a positive effect on my life in general.

So it’s a big opportunity for me, and I’m really looking forward to it!

雅思口語part2高分話題范文參考:

Thank you very much to let me talk about this cue card topic. The story that I am going to talk about is a fascinating story on how an eight year’s old kid saved more than 500 people from possible fatal casualty. I read this story a year ago in a daily newspaper.

This story was published in a popular newspaper that I used to read every day at that time and it was featured as a story of bravery and exemplary one.

An eight years old boy was playing with some other kids in the evening near a rail junction and suddenly noticed that a part of the rail track was severely damaged. While other kids ignored that and returned to their houses, this particular boy was different and he went home and persuaded his father that something bad is going to happen. He came back to the train junction with his father and took a great deal of hassle to convince the rail officers to actually go to visit the damage. They officers were reluctant to do so and thought it was a child’s imagination or lack of comprehension. But the boy was adamant and with his father, they were able to finally convince them that something terrible might happen if they do not take prompt actions. When all of them saw the severe damage on the rail track, it was almost the time for a passenger rail to pass this junction using this particular rail track. It was evening and very few people were in the station. The railway authority understood that repairing the harmed railroad was impossible. They immediately informed the nearby station and warned them so that the train does not leave that junction.

Next day many rail supervisors and employees visited the place and they were amazed by the bravery the boy showed to save people from an approaching peril.

I followed the news story and next day it made the headline of every local newspaper. As far I remember the boy was given many gifts by the rail authorities as well as the local administration.

The story was an exemplary one to remind us how a small sacrifice and bravery can save others. The eight years old boy showed his utmost intelligence, heroism and prompt actions to save people from unforeseeable dangers. The event was so touchy that it went viral in a day and that hit the headline of many newspapers. I did not watch TV that time, but I am sure that was also in TV news.

From the very nature of this event, we can understand that we revere the good news and we are not used to the bad news only. The great courage of a small kid saved the lives of many and that was an indeed worth news story to let the people of the whole country know and feel proud of.

Describe a place in your city you want to go to

You should say:

What is this place

Where is this place

Why you like this place

And explain what do you want to do there

There are lots of places I like to go, depending on my mood. Today ‘though, I’m going to tell you about a special place near to where I live. I will explain where it is and how I get there. I will try and describe what it looks like and explain why I like the location so much.

I am lucky, although I live in a city, from my house I can walk to the edges of the Peak District, which is a beautiful national park just a few miles from the city centre. To get to the national park I have to walk from my house down some local roads, and up a steep hill past some allotments. After about a mile or so striding out away from the urban areas, I get to a lovely bit of woodland which has a public footpath you can follow on wards and upwards. It can be a bit of a scramble towards the end of the path as it is very steep indeed, but eventually, you leave the woodland and are on the edge of open farmland. Another footpath crosses some sheep-filled fields, and finally, you are on the moors of the Peak District. It is really spectacular.

The Peak District can be a really wild place, with its vast expanses of open moorland. You are high up, and it is quite exposed so it can be very windy and cold even in the summer. There are rocky outcrops and strange configurations of stones that have been weathered by centuries of wind and rain to create dramatic shapes. Some boulders are in piles, and there are steep vertical cliffs too. The area attracts lots of people who like walking, climbing and bouldering because of its unique and beautiful landscape. Everywhere is dark wet peat underfoot and lots of heathers. This is a low growing plant that flowers at the end of the summer turning the whole landscape purple. The park covers a huge area, I think around 555 square miles, so the terrain differs from area to area, of course, I am biased, but I believe I live near the most remarkably beautiful part.

I love this place, because if ever I am feeling down, or a bit enclosed, in just an hours walk I can find myself in a deserted but picturesque place, where the elements are more extreme. In winter rain and wind can batter you, but in summer the sky seems to go on forever. Every day is different up there, and every hour of every day too. The area is so huge, that often you can have it all to yourself, of course, there are other walkers about, but you can quickly disappear in the vastness of the space. The people who live in Sheffield, like me, are very proud that we are so near to the Peak District National Park, and it is no surprise it became the United Kingdom's first national park on 17 April 1951. A birthday that should be celebrated I think!
