1. Do you like advertisements on TV?
Oh no, TV is a purgatory. The TV advertisements today appear to be not only boring but also disturbing. They interrupt in the midst of our enjoyment of a game or a film. Most of the advertisement materials are irritating and of course of low taste. The presentation is mostly awkward and obscene.
2. What kind of advertisement do you like the most?
Word of mouth is hands down the BEST advertising. It's one of the most credible forms of advertising because every time people make a recommendation, they have nothing to gain but the appreciation of those who are listening.
3. Why do you think there are so many advertisements now?
Whether you do like them or not, whenever and wherever it's possible that you can meet them. For biz sellers, ad could be very helpful to promote their products. For acceptors, ads might show some latest information. To buy or not to buy, to be fond of or not, all depend on your decisions.
4. What are the various places where we see advertisements?
Today, media is so blatantly filled with advertising: TV, radio, magazine, newspaper, billboards. Even more pathetic when I recently watched a 16 second clip with a two-minute commercial without the option to skip. I think many advertisements are brain-washing us.
Describe a time when you received money as a present
You should say:
Who gave it
When you received it
What you did with it
How you felt about it
Ok, well I’m quite lucky in the fact that I’ve received money as a gift on quite a number of occasions, so it was kind of difficult deciding on which one to talk about. And so in the end I thought it would be easiest just to tell you about the most recent occasion, which was my last birthday.
And the money that was given to me was from my grandparents, which is what they often tend to do for my birthday, because they said to me that it’s probably best that I choose something for myself which I know I’ll like, instead of them choosing something which I might have no interest in at all. So as you can imagine, I was super happy, and was also really grateful to my grandparents for being so generous.
Anyway, regarding what I did with the money, well first of all, I spent some of it on a few new books, because I’m a bit of a bookworm, if truth be told, and whenever I have some money to spare, the first place I normally head to is the bookshop.
So that’s one thing, and as for what I did with the rest of the money, which was actually still quite a considerable amount, well, I thought it would be nice to take my friends out for a meal somewhere and celebrate my birthday with them. So we all went to a hotpot restaurant in the city centre and had a really great time together, although I should add that I wasn’t feeling too great the next morning, because my friends had made me drink a ridiculous amount during the dinner, so it took me about a day to recover!
Anyway, I thankfully still had a bit of money left over, so I decided to just put it in the bank for safekeeping. And that’s pretty much it, so thanks for listening.
1. What would you like to change about your personality?
2. What would you like to change about your daily routine?
3. How do friendships change as we get older?
4. What changes in people’s lives increase their happiness?
What would you like to change about your personality?
誤區(qū):
What would you like to do,你希望怎么去做,要求說(shuō)的是你坐在考官面前就有的問(wèn)題,而想去進(jìn)行變化的。
Sometimes, I kind of stress myself too much. I usually worry a lot about things. When dealing with exams, I get really tense before entering the classroom. Now I’m sitting the IELTS test in front of you, I have sweaty hands and butterflies in the stomach. I always want to do things perfectly so I guess I’m used to pushing myself. So I suppose I must make the change step by step to be more confident and relaxed.
2.參加考試可以用take the exam 或者sit the exam,賓語(yǔ)用test替換也可以。
What would you like to change about your daily routine?
誤區(qū):
比如說(shuō)我每周洗一次衣服do the laundry,這就算是我的一個(gè)routine。
思路:
那么就是說(shuō),有哪些事情是你原來(lái)一直在做,但是你覺(jué)得不是很好,比方說(shuō)是unhealthy,bad habit等等;或者是你認(rèn)為可以讓自己變得更好make it better, 或者提升自己的生活質(zhì)量improve the quality of life等。
As a senior high school student, there isn’t much space I can do to totally change my schedule. However, I suppose I should try to sleep and get up earlier. I study more than 8 hours on a daily basis, and watch movies from the Internet late at night sometimes. It would affect my concentration if I stay up. Additionally, l hope I can have enough time to do exercise on a weekly basis. I would like to try new sports like aerobics, for instance.
Do you think parents should supervise what films children watch?
思路1:由于網(wǎng)絡(luò)審查(censorship)有限 → 孩子接觸到(be exposed to)各種信息 →少兒不宜(not child-friendly)→ 舉例(violence, crime, pornography) → 孩子缺乏判斷力(judgment)不能明辨是非 → 很容易學(xué)習(xí)模仿一些不好的行為和習(xí)慣(copy/imitate)→ 父母適當(dāng)監(jiān)督把問(wèn)題扼殺在襁褓里
Due to lack of movie & Internet censorship, apparently, now kids are more likely to be exposed to a lot of information not child-friendly at all, especially stuff related to violence, crime & pornography. Meanwhile, without mature judgment, it’s usually hard for children & teenagers to tell right from wrong, which may literally lead to the imitation of certain bad behaviors that they’ve witnessed on screen. You know, it’s not rare to see a young kid swearing or cursing others, even get engaged in physical violence. So, I do believe that, if parents could provide proper supervision about the movies their kids watch, they would effectively nip the negative possibility in the bud.
Do you think famous actors can make the movie successful?
如果指票房成功(box-office) → 那可能性很高 → 名演員有龐大的粉絲群支持(backup from loyal fans) →不管電影本身如何 è 粉絲都會(huì)愿意去電影院(be willing to pay for the ticket)→ 以此來(lái)表達(dá)他們對(duì)偶像的支持(support)→ 這也就造就了現(xiàn)在市場(chǎng)上很多的粉絲電影(fan-target movies)→ 撇掉內(nèi)容不談 → 票房通常很客觀
否定
成功的電影由很多因素構(gòu)成 → 劇情(plot)、導(dǎo)演(director)、制作團(tuán)隊(duì)(whole team of production)等等 → 演員只是其中一環(huán)(part of the chain) → 再說(shuō)很多名演員只是外貌出眾(a looker),演技不一定好(performance) → 相比之下 → 強(qiáng)大的團(tuán)隊(duì)+好的劇情(plot)更為關(guān)鍵
Well it depends on the definition of successful movies. If you mean box-office, I would say yes. Coz’ basically those famous actors have got sincere backup from their huge group of fans, which means, no matter how bad the film is, those loyal fans would still like to pay for the tickets to support their beloved stars, their idols in the cinema. That’s actually the crucial factor contributing to the emergence & boom of those fan-target films. Forgetting about the plot & performance, those ones are usually more likely to receive a real success in the market, just like Twilight from Hollywood or Tiny Time in China.
Would you say that cinemas will disappear in the future?
1. 常見(jiàn)的預(yù)測(cè)未來(lái)題 → 注意will的替換 → be gonna, be likely to do, be expected to, tend to …
版權(quán) copyright 尊重版權(quán) pay royalties to 法律意識(shí) legal consciousness
Well, not likely, I suppose, for currently, the number of cinema-goers are increasing faster, just like this year, we’ve witnessed many blockbusters, like Fast Furious 7 or Jurassic Park, which has smashed the box-office, earning a real big fortune. Thus, I guess, the disappearance of cinemas will never happen, at lease in the coming decade. Because, on one hand, cinemas are really indispensable in our life, especially to those film-lovers, for there are simply more cutting-edge facilities in it, like Imax screens or hi-fi systems, which could provide us with much better & more touching enjoyment. And usually it’s really hard to enjoy this at home. That’s why on weekends, tons of people rush into the movie theatre to enjoy the latest films, releasing their pressure from fast pace of life. Another thing is that there are more people informed about the concept of copyright in recent years & gradually those free-download films can be regarded as illegal ones. With stronger legal consciousness, I believe there will be more audience deciding to pay royalties to those artists & filmmakers by watching films in the cinema. That’s why I don’t think it’s gonna disappear from our life.
