Speaking of a popular person I know, the first name that comes to my mind is David Beckham. So today, I will be talking about him, a well-known celebrity not only in his country UK, but also around the whole world.

David Beckham was born in Leytonstone, London in the year 1975. He is most widely known as one of UK’s greatest footballers. He played football for the England National team from 1996 to 2009, and also worked for some other famous football clubs like the Manchester United and Real Madrid. As a professional player, he became an icon of football around the world at a young age and is now probably one of the most esteemed sports celebrities alive. He is a legendary footballer who has a unique style in his bending free-kicks as a right winger.

In 2004, David Beckham was listed in the FIFA's 100 greatest living players in the world. He was twice the runner-up for 'FIFA World Player of the Year’. These statistics are to signify how popular he is. By the way, he became one of the highest paid footballers in the world back in 2013, from which you can tell how much people love him.

When it comes to the reasons why Beckham is so popular, first thing I have to say, is that he truly is an extraordinary football player. I’ve always been a fan of the UK football team, and Beckham was the footballer I most wanted to learn from back in high school. Besides, he’s also a fashion icon among the young, always displaying great tastes of clothing. Another important factor that makes him so popular I guess, is his efforts put in charity. He has been a UNICEF ambassador for a long period of time, founder of The David Beckham UNICEF Fund, and his recent philanthropic works also turned out to be quite exceptional.

As a successful football player, Beckham, along with his teammates, has made a hit among football fans around the world, attracting more people to explore this exciting sport. In the meantime, his endeavors into improving the quality of children’s life in undeveloped countries, also helped a lot in drawing people’s attention to this severe problem.

Guess many people would talk about Jack Ma, right? He is such a role model for every businessman here in China, but also around the world, especially after his constant appearance in Davos Forum. Then in 2007 I got to know Alibaba's Taobao platform. Yeah by the time the platform had been operated for over 4 years.

Jack's vision over the IT industry always attracts me. He claimed that the power of the internet would radically change people's lifestyle in the 1990s. Back then so many people especially experts asserted that the Internet was "nothing more than a slow and stupid tool for communication", but Ma and his team seemed to be all in for the big project and occupied the market prior to even American companies. When I learnt how Alipay beat E bay and Pay pal in China, I was shocked as well as moved. Now Ali's product is everywhere, everybody knows Jack Ma, but they seem to learn more about his stories when he started the company, but less about how he actually led his team to where they are now.

I guess Ma's best quality is perseverance. Back in the 90s people never said anything good about Ma's idea. "Liar", "Cheater", "Loser", these were the titles people added up to him when he was collecting money for their Ali program. But he never seemed to be tom apan by criticism or gossip. He kept searching for anything useful for his firm to survive. And they succeeded, they turn noes into yeses. And now people are praising what Ali has done for Chinese IT industry. I always tell myself to turn a no into a yes too in my career.

At first sight, I thought she was just another successful person like what we read in the magazines.
