Surveys show that more and more people have a tendency to buy goods of famous brands. In this essay， I will analyze some possible reasons behind this phenomenon and the effect of this trend.

To begin with， many branded products are manufactured by large companies， who usually have a larger budget to hire stars and celebrities to endorse their products. Many consumers choose famous brands just because they admire these celebrities. It is believed that people feel closer to their idols when they use these products.

Another factor is perhaps the consumers＇ sense of vanity， which is considered as human nature. Using famous brands is a symbol of taste and social status. This is why people are generous in buying branded clothes， shoes， cosmetics， etc. and even those who cannot really afford these also follow the fashion.

What is worse is that this trend may encourage people to compete over material things， leading to waste of goods and pleasure-seeking lifestyles. People， especially youngsters， tend to pursue better material life and take everything for granted.

Overall， in this materialistic society， using famous brands is a personal choice and consumers have the right to decide what to buy. However， considering its possible negative influences， I think this trend should not be encouraged.

題目：In many countries， more and more young people are leaving school and unable to find jobs after graduation. What problems do you think youth unemployment will cause to the individual and the society？ Give reasons and make some suggestions.

When we read newspapers， our attention is always attracted by increasing unemployment rate in young graduates who are leaving college. In my opinion， there are many causes for this disquieting phenomenon and we should try to solve the problem.

Most companies would rather employ a low-educational specialized worker than a this-year’s graduate from a well-known university. For companies， they are more likely to choose the candidates with rich working experience. Apparently enough， the training for young graduates usually costs them a large quantity of time and money. In addition， the current education system brings on a lot of bookworms who are adept in theoretical but not practical knowledge. Therefore， it is hard for those graduates to complete the practical assignments successfully and smoothly. This is one major reason why many graduates find it to find suitable jobs.

An un-mandatory retirement age is another factor leading to the youth unemployment for college graduates. Along with the improving of working efficiency， proficient employees with rich and extensive working experience get retired at a much later age. In this case， for young graduates， there are fewer chances to get access to the jobs taken up by the older and more experienced.

However， the youth unemployment may cause serious social problems. Due to the gloomy job markets， college students may leave school before finishing their academic study， thus the higher education system will be challenged， and more seriously， the importance of higher education will be doubted. This will cause retrogression in education.

To solve this grave problem， both colleges and students should take some actions. On one hand， it is advisable for colleges to adjust courses more closely related to the future jobs. On the other hand， students in college， as future candidates for employment， should not only get a good command of professional knowledge but also take part in some practical exercises to be prepared for the future jobs. In addition， government may stage laws and regulations to assist graduates in finding jobs.

Task：With computers and Internet， people can study and work without going to school or the advantages outweigh its disadvantages？

I personally believe it is not necessarily bliss for people to study and work wherever they wish rather than in schools or companies.

It is understandable why some people are overwhelmed by the possibility that they can free themselves from commuting every day， sustaining themselves simply by clicking the mouse or touching the screen. They are exhilarated by the hallucination that they were longer to toil and could fully savor the comfortable life brought by technology. Nonetheless， the reality shows a different picture and such a lifestyle could also bring thorny problems.

Firstly， students and employees may feel physically unbound to study or work， yet the almighty technology could actually increase their work pressure and make them become tethered around tasks without much rest. This is typically ture for office workers. In the past， many of them has a fixed schedule each day， which was usually terminated when they clock out. With technologies such as email and mobile phone， however， managers are endowed with the ability to find employees whenever they like： consequently， people will gradually realize that they can hardly distinguish their life from work. Some employees， for instance， are called to attend video meetings even when they are on vocation.

Furthermore， the equality of people’s study and work under such circumstances should be questioned. For instance， acquiring information and knowledge never equals receiving education. In this age when young people are constantly bombarded by myriad sources of knowledge like on-line courses and electronic gadgets containing lessons by top teachers， instructing students how to learn and providing a learning environment where they could interact and collaborate with others are increasingly indispensable. Without being supervised properly， few teenagers could be self-disciplined enough to concentrate on study. For workers， lack of face to face communication is quite likely to undermine their creativity. There is mounting evidence that most brilliant ideas spring up when people pf similar fields are placed together.

Finally， given that people are not urged to travel between home and company or school， most of them will reduce the chance of doing “voluntary exercise”--unconscious sport like jogging to bus station or riding bicycle， which will gradually raise their likelihood of suffering from health problems like obesity and high blood pressure.

In conclusion， some people may celebrate the comfort and efficiency brought by advanced technology， yet I tend to subscribe to the view that it bring more challenges including balance between work and life， degrade quality of study and work as well as deteriorating health. Overall， I believe it is a negative development.
