When it comes to this topic, the first placethat jumps into my mind is the JinganTemple，which is located at west NanjingRoad,Jingan District, the flourishingdowntown area of Shanghai.

As far as l know, the history of the templecan be traced back to 780 years ago. lmean,it was built in the Southern SongDynasty,anda famouscalligrapherrenamed it as Jingan Temple in 1945 and isstill named as such today. Actually, its oneof the quietest places in Shanghai and l gothere twice a month, on the first and 15th ofevery month.

The temple has been a sacred place inShanghai since it was opened to the publicin 1990. Every time when l go to burnincense and worship the Buddha,l can seemonks chanting sutras, the faithful could beseen praying, which is a terrific way for meto get rid of stress and worries and findsome inner peace.

Jingan Temple is a great place to escapethe hustle and bustle ofcrowdsindowntown,cuz everyone who enters thetemple speaks in a low voice, even childrenwould whisper. l tend to go there with somedevout Buddhists during some traditionalfestivals and special events, like the TempleFair during the Spring Festival, we would goto lectures and then sit in meditation forhours,which can definitely help me loosenup and purify my soul.

Im fascinated with this place not onlybecause of the tranquil atmosphere, butalso the venerability and auspiciousnessthe Buddha radiates. Even at this moment,lseemed to be able to smell the sandalwoodincense in the temple.
