在很多西方教學(xué)理念中,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生獨(dú)立學(xué)習(xí)的意識和能力是最重要的理念之一,這種理念滲透到了學(xué)校教學(xué)的方方面面。學(xué)校鼓勵學(xué)生主動學(xué)習(xí),而不是被動聽課和死記硬背。要求學(xué)生獨(dú)立地進(jìn)行研究,收集和分析自己或團(tuán)隊(duì)獲取的數(shù)據(jù),勇于提出問題,勇于向老師和同學(xué)進(jìn)行符合邏輯性的爭辯。

課堂上,教師除講解外,更多的是給予學(xué)生啟迪,讓學(xué)生思考和發(fā)表觀點(diǎn)。有什么疑問,學(xué)生課后可以直接去找老師預(yù)約時間見面。此外,教師還會要求學(xué)生安排相當(dāng)時間在圖書館或?qū)嶒?yàn)室做自我研究工作,鼓勵學(xué)生主動地進(jìn)行學(xué)習(xí)和科研,從而激發(fā)學(xué)生的創(chuàng)新意識。

Tutorial

Tutorial指小班授課,一般是在導(dǎo)師的指導(dǎo)下,學(xué)生就某個學(xué)術(shù)主題展開討論或者研究探討學(xué)習(xí)策略、論文或者對別人的文章進(jìn)行評論。也可能是對導(dǎo)師Lecture中涉及的某些知識內(nèi)容或者案例進(jìn)行討論。

TUTOR: Yes, of course, shes the new Head.

TUTOR: So, lets look at some new targets. Well start by having a chat about your Chapter One. I very much enjoyed reading it. Your written style is very clear and youve included lots of interesting descriptions of education in your target area. Ive just got a couple of suggestions for some additional work.

SANDY: Of course. Could I just askwhat do you think I should call it?

TUTOR: Well, Id go for something like Context Review.

What do you think?

SANDY: Well, short and to the point.

TUTOR: Exactly. Now, as regards specific areas to work on, Id be quite interested to have a few more statistics about the schools in the different zones.

SANDY: Oh, that wouldnt be a problem. I can get them from the Internet.

TUTOR: Great, and although you did make a reference to quite a few different writers, I think you should aim to cite more works written later than 2000.

SANDY: OK. Thats more difficult, but I can try. When do you want that done by?

TUTOR: Oh, its not urgent. Um I should aim for the end of term. But in meantime, I think you should also be thinking about Chapter Two.
