1. I would say I don’t hate them. I am not very much of an animal lover but I like them if they exist and I am able to see them. But, owning an animal might be something I won’t prefer.

2. I love cows a lot. I think they bring in lot of peace and care in a house. You see them, they rarely make any noise and still for some reasons when I look into their eyes, it feels very peaceful and lovely.

3. Yes, they are. People in my country love animals. You could find a dog or a cow being owned by a family. And it is not for any monetary reasons but because they like being around them and caring for them. Animals do bring a certain extent of happiness and togetherness in a family.

4. As a pet, most of the people have dogs in their house. Dogs are preferred over other animals because firstly they are very friendly and loyal to their owner. Also, they help in guarding the house against all the possible odds.

5. I think yes, there have been many observable changes in our country since past few decades. With the coming of globalization and people going for modernization, there has been a steep decline in people owning cows. Earlier one could see most of the houses having a cow, because first it is treated as God in our country and then there are some monetary benefits associated with cows. One can sell its milk and other milk products.

6. A pet requires 24/7 care and if in a city one can provide that care, there should not be any issue in keeping a pet. I think with houses in cities so close to each other keeping pets like cows or other big ones is not possible. But, for the ones smaller in size like dog, cat or fishes, it is completely feasible and one should definitely go for them. But, yes if one has a very strict working lifestyle, keeping a pet will only be disastrous for the pet.

Describe an interesting person you would like to meet

You should say:

Who this person is

What this person does

Why you think this person is interesting

And what you want to do with this person

要說他怎么風趣幽默(have a fine sense of humour),因為他對自己顏值(face score)的自信,高曉松特別喜歡自拍(selfie),但那張臉真的是一言難盡(Really hard to describe),因為這個最近成了微博上的網紅(cyber celebrity)。

合影(group photo)就算了(forget it )。

Describe a television program/ film that made you laugh

You should say

What the program is

When you watched it

Who you watched it with

Why it made you laughed

PART 3

What kinds of things do Chinese people do to be happy?

Is laughing beneficial to children, how about old people?

A TV program that I found really funny was an American show called “How I met your mother” which was broadcast every Sunday last summer.

It was a sitcom with 9 series, each of which included about 24 episodes. I watched all of the episodes and found them absolutely hilarious. The series followed the main character, Ted, who recounted to his son and daughter the time when he met and got married to their mother. The special thing was this – all the events Ted had experienced with his best friends before meeting his wife were illustrated in a highly amusing way. For example, in one episode, Ted described his dates with a girlfriend whose name he had forgotten, so Ted and the other characters had to refer to her as “Blah-blah” all the time.

Because of the characters’ eccentric humor and natural acting, this show made me laugh a lot. So, at present, whenever I feel stressed, I replay this series so that I can just put my feet up and have a good laugh.

Hospital is that one place where no one would like to visit. I personally hate going to the doctor’s. But I had to visit one recently. Due to frequent travelling to varied altitudes and atmosphere, I got home having terrible cold and viral infection. It was accompanied by heavy head, continuous sneezing and a runny nose which left me in moderate discomfort.

I felt too sick and in pain. Due to the ever-growing headache I couldn’t concentrate on any thing and found it impossible to do even the smallest everyday task. My head felt like it weighed a ton and I could barely keep my eyes open due to the developing stress. After no more resistance, I decided that I need to visit the doctor’s.

The doctor checked me and asked me how I was feeling. He checked my pulse and my body temperature. He asked me to open my mouth, take my tongue out and checked it subsequently for any possible infections and if there are any possible symptoms of typhoid. He further checked my blood pressure and concluded that I have developed intense allergy infections probably due to the temperature changes and dust inhaled during the travels. He prescribed me some medicines and a cough syrup to be taken at regular interval for 3 days. He advised me to avoid any cold food items and beverages. He also suggested that I drink turmeric milk and ginger lemon honey tea for instant healing. He asked me to take plenty of rest and avoid going out in the dirt. The suggestions were useful and my health improved significantly in a couple of days.

What costs are involved when you are ill in your country?

Well … people have to pay prescription charges which can be quite expensive … but fortunately general healthcare is free … unless you want to go private of course and then you can pay a fortune for your treatment …

In your experience are people too quick to take time off work when they’re ill?

Yes .. I’ve got friends who have a day off work if they wake up with a runny nose … and in most cases they seem to make a speedy recovery after they’ve phoned in sick …

Do women pay more attention to their health than men?

I think so yes … women are more likely to see their GP for a check-up if they’re concerned about something … men tend to avoid facing up to any health problems they have … my dad always seems to have a very chesty cough but refuses to go to make an appointment to see the doctor …
