1. Do you like music? Why / why not?

2. What kind of music do you listen to? Why?

3. Has the music that you listen to changed since you were young?

4. Do you think older and younger generations prefer different types of music?

5. Do you play any instruments?

6. Have you got any hobbies or interests?

1. Yes, I love to spend my leisure time listening music.

2. Well, there is no special category that I am following most. but for sure I have preference based on my mood. Normally I'm a huge fan of classical music with soft melodies. These are always refreshing my mind. During working alone like cooking, cleaning household staffs I listen to rock songs with high volume which brings a lot of energy.

To be honest there is no drastic changes. I noticed few mere changes for instance I have now more interest on English song which was never in my favorite list.

3. Of course I do. Logically people from different generation will have taste variation. Depending upon the maturity, music stars of their own age, impact of globalization as well as technological development in music industry will divide younger and older generation.

4. I’m a big fan of classical music … it doesn’t make me very popular with my children … their taste in music is completely different … they always want to listen to their favourite rock bands …

5. No I don’t … I’ve always wished I’d taken up a musical instrument … I’d love to be able to play the guitar … but I think I’m a bit tone deaf so perhaps I’d find it hard …

6. I’m really into live music … I go to a lot of music festivals … I think a live performance always sounds more exciting than a recorded version … as long as the performers can sing and play well of course …

1. Do you have a favourite teacher?

Um… Yeah, I suppose I do, but it’s actually kind of hard to pick out a favourite because I’ve been really lucky with all my teachers. You know, they’ve been really great, at least most of them anyway, but I guess my favourite teacher would have to be my Chinese language teacher, because she was incredible. I mean, the amount of effort she put into her teaching, and her attention to detail, were just amazing. And not only that, but she also showed a genuine care for all of us, which left a really deep impression on me. So yeah, out of all my teachers, I’d say she was probably my favourite.

2. What kinds of teachers do you like?

I guess…. um…first of all, teachers who are passionate about their subject, because you know, if they show enthusiasm for what they’re teaching, I’m much more likely to get interested in that subject and do well in it. And as well as this, I also like teachers that are supportive and…what’s the word….approachable. So in other words, teachers that show patience and understanding, and are there for you if you need help.

3. What are the qualities of a good teacher?

Um…. I guess the best way to answer this would be to think of some of the good teachers I’ve had at school and university. So please hang on just a second while I have a quick think about it…..! Ok, well the good teachers I’ve had have shown a genuine care for their students. You know, they genuinely want their students to learn and develop. It’s not just simply a job to them. So yeah I think that’s the most important thing – taking their job seriously and really caring about their students’ development.

1. What's your favorite animal?

2. Why do you like this animal?

3. Do you like keeping a pet? (why/why not?)

4. Do people in your country like to keep pets? What kind of pets they keep?

1.What's your favorite animal?

- Dog! Well, I have to say dogs as they are friendly and loyal. We always say, dogs are people's good companions. It seems that they can take good care of their owners and understand them very well. Sometimes, you feel perked up when you play with those adorable creatures. - I guess my favorite animal is pandas. We Chinese people regard pandas as our national treasure, as they are unique to China. I remember clearly, the first time that I see this animal is when I visited Wolong Giant Panda National Reserve in Sichuang Province. You know, there are distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body.

2.Why do you like this animal?

-Well, who doesn't love dogs? Unlike cats, they are the most faithful animals and will help whenever their masters need it. For example, they can work as gatekeeper to scare away burglars. They can even help to look after babies as one time I watched the news on TV. More importantly, dogs can bring joyfulness into the lives of the whole family.

-I have to say giant pandas are born to be loved! The way they sit there, doing nothing but eating bamboos, and occasionally roll in the field. I guess people are naturally attracted to fluffy and silly-well, in a good way-animals. 小偷born to be 天生fluffy 毛絨絨地

3.Do you like keeping a pet? (why/why not?)

-Oh, Yesss!Definitely. If my mum allows me to do that, I will rush to the pet market right away. It feels like you have a younger sister or brother at home waiting for you everyday. It will be wonderful relaxation after a day's work. Besides, I'm sure, I guess I will make a good pet keeper as I am very careful and devoted.

-To be honest, no. As much as I love animals, I don't think keeping a pet at home is a good idea for me. I used to keep goldfish, turtles and dogs. But, currently, I live alone and super busy with my work and study. You know I could just barely take care of myself! Keeping a pet is like having a baby, who needs love and your company to grow. Maybe later.

1. Are there many people living near you?

If yes:

Yeah there are, because I live in quite a residential area, and so most of the buildings around my home are apartment blocks.

If no:

No, I wouldn’t say there are, because I mean, a lot of the flats where I live are empty, which is probably due to the fact that most of the people who bought them didn’t actually plan on moving in, but instead bought them simply as an investment. So yeah, it’s a pretty quiet neighbourhood.

2. Do you know all your neighbours?

Answer A:

Well, I wouldn’t say I know all them, but I know a fair few, and that’s mainly because I spend quite a lot of time in gardens of my apartment complex, which is how I got to know them.

Answer B:

No not really, because my neighbours tend to keep (pretty much) to themselves. You know, I mean, if I happen to see them, we might say hi to each other, but that’s about it, and then they’ll just continue with doing whatever it is they’re doing.

3. When do you see your neighbours?

I guess the time when I mostly see them is when I’m in the lift of my apartment block. You know, that’s pretty much the only time I come into contact with them, because I don’t really know them all that well, so I’ve neverbeen round to any of their homes or anything like that.

4. How often do you see your neighbours?

Well I guess it depends, because I mean, during term time, I don’t see them at all, cos I’m away at university,. but during the holidays, when I’m back home, I guess I probably see them about three or four times a week, because I’m quite good friends with a few of them.

5. Do you think it’s important to know your neighbours?

If yes:

Yeah, I suppose it is, because I think it helps create a good community spirit if we know our neighbours. In other words, it kind of gives the neighbourhood a nice, friendly feel, instead of a cold, unwelcoming one, if you know what I mean!

If no:

No I wouldn’t really say it is, because for me I think friends and family are enough. And I mean, in my case I don’t spend nearly enough time with my family as it is, so I can’t really see the need to get to know my neighbours as well. And this probably goes for a lot of people, not just me.

6. What do you think of your neighbours?

They’re all really nice people. You know, they’re always very pleasant to me whenever I see them. And I can’t think of a single instance when I’ve had problems with any of them. So yeah, I feel pretty lucky to have such good neighbors!

7. What sorts of problems can people have with their neighbors?

Well I guess one of the main ones would be noise. You know, like putting on music too loud or having the TV on full volume, that kind of thing. So that’s probably the biggest complaint that people have with their neighbors. And as well as this, I suppose another problematic issue could be pets, because a lot of neighbors who have them don’t put their dogs on a lead when they’re walking them, which I think is quite in considerate, seeing as a lot of people are quite scared of dogs!
