Question5 Campus Situation Topic: Problem/Solution
The listening passage (60-90 sec; 180-220 words) is a conversation about a student-related problem and two possible solutions.
The question asks the test taker to demonstrate understanding of the problem and to express an opinion about solving the problem.
o Preparation time: 20 sec
o Response time: 60 sec

a. Problem of a time conflict between a and b

Work (part-time job) vs. Study (for a… test/exam)
Play (visit/tour) vs. Study (for a… test/exam)
b. Preference: ____=a balanced solution (既a又b)
c. Reason:
I think the man/woman should____(preference) because finding a balanced solution is the best way for him/her to do (a) and in the meantime/at the same time, do (b). In the process, the man/woman can acquire an ability of doing time management, which does good to his/her future since only being efficient can he/she become more competitive when he/she is hunting for a job in the future.

2) because it is good to be on his/her study record with the practical research experience. Gathering an experience like this is also helpful to his/her future when he/she is looking for a job. For the reunion with his/her family, there are more chances in the next time. So he/she should grasp/seize this great opportunity.

1. 首先一個(gè)人會描寫一個(gè)與校園生活有關(guān)的問題或沖突(主要是時(shí)間，安排)
2. 然后另一個(gè)人會對問題或矛盾提出2個(gè)解決方案。以及相關(guān)的原因及利弊。
3. 聽力時(shí)要注意：對話中描述的問題/沖突是什么?如果解決問題(2個(gè)解決方案)?你覺得哪種方案好，為什么?

不需要太多細(xì)節(jié)。
4. 注意1+2和相關(guān)句型：
A. 提出問題(交作業(yè)，考試，還書，參加活動，打工，上課，聽講座等)
a) 單純提出問題，比如說忘記帶東西了，電腦壞了，找人借錢等。
b) 矛盾沖突(特別是時(shí)間上的沖突)：出現(xiàn)在對話的開始部分。不必理會一些打招呼的寒暄的話，重點(diǎn)放在聽矛盾是什么，只要記下關(guān)鍵的名詞或動詞，及名詞性短語即可。
B. 建議的句型：

閱讀部：問題：明天有presentation，男生要打印海報(bào)，還沒設(shè)計(jì)完，但學(xué)校的打印店還有一小時(shí)關(guān)門，明天上課前都不開門。
兩個(gè)解決方案：
1.一小時(shí)內(nèi)加速做完，趕著去打印，但質(zhì)量不會很高
2.去外面打印店，時(shí)間充裕，但會貴。
考題解析：
本題在作答時(shí)先簡要描述男生碰到的問題是什么，然后說明兩個(gè)解決方案分別是怎么做的，注意在此處不要去點(diǎn)評解決方案的好處或壞處。再挑選其中的一個(gè)方案，比如方案1，說兩個(gè)理由，第一個(gè)理由說方案1的優(yōu)點(diǎn)，第二個(gè)理由說方案1的缺點(diǎn)怎么解決。

男生明天有presentation，得打印poster，但是他還沒編輯完，但是學(xué)校打印店一小時(shí)就關(guān)門了 ，明天上課前也不開門。
解決方案一，匆忙在一小時(shí)內(nèi)做完海報(bào)，趕去學(xué)校店里打，但是海報(bào)肯定做得不是很cool;
解決方案二，去外面的打印店，晚上也開門，這樣有時(shí)間慢慢編輯海報(bào)，但男生怕太貴。
考題解析：
這道題個(gè)別同學(xué)提出，沒明白這男生要去打印什么，以為是論文，所以答題的時(shí)候就很繞。所以poster是海報(bào)的意思，是理解題目的基礎(chǔ)，如果你因?yàn)椴徽J(rèn)識這個(gè)詞而說了material，甚至paper，那就遺憾丟分了。
至于答題的偏向，建議選擇方案二，描述出學(xué)生的困境，講出不能為了一點(diǎn)錢而犧牲學(xué)術(shù)任務(wù)的質(zhì)量，表示花錢也很值得;另外，選擇了慢慢做海報(bào)，可以使得presentation進(jìn)行得更加順利，甚至可能得到更高的分?jǐn)?shù)。
托福口語范文一：
The man’s problem is that he has not finished designing the poster for the presentation tomorrow but the print shop closes in an hour till tomorrow. There are two possible solutions. The first one is finish the design in an hour and print it before the shop is closed, and the second solution is to print the poster in shops outside the campus. I would recommend the second solution for two reasons.
First of all, the man can have sufficient time to finish the design and the quality of it will be high enough that he may get praised tomorrow after the presentation. Although it may be a little bit expensive to print the poster in shops outside the campus, that is not a lot of money and he can do some part-time job to earn the money.

考題解析：
1. 本題難度適中。兩條解決措施比較清晰，也比較容易概括。
2. 兩條解決措施都可以選擇，但是選擇第二條可能理由稍微多一些。
