In terms of such an experience, I have to talk about making dumplings independently.

Two years ago, in order to celebrate the Mother’s day, I wanted to cook my mother’s favorite food –the dumpling, which is the traditional food in China. Honestly, before I had never made dumplings by myself and I worried I made it a mess. Thus I carefully learned from cookbook and consulted my relatives and my friends again and again, afterwards I made good wrappers and meticulously prepared the stuffing. At last, I made over 100 well-cooked dumplings, which were stuffed with pork and Chinese chives. My mother liked them very much. From then on, I became the chef in making dumplings in my family.

From your perspective, the library is a good place for quietly reading books and learning or it is a good place for meeting friends. Which function do you support and why?

In my view, the library definitely should be used for quiet reading and learning.

The most remarkable reason is that in the library there are numerous books. Whether the library is big or small, there are books on various subjects, books on history or literature, books on language or biology and so on. So the function must be closely connected with reading and learning, it is very convenient for students to study or search some useful information in the library. However, for talking and meeting, it is better to have some tea, coffer or beer, also adding some music, so the restaurant or Starbucks might be a better choice. Therefore, the library should be quiet, should be given for thinking and learning.

Talking about the welcome session, the obvious advantage is this can help students better adapt themselves to the life in university. Freshmen will be more familiar with things like how to register a course, when to have a meal in cafeteria, how to use the gym and library and so forth. It will be convenient for freshmen.

While the disadvantage is that some students may not be attending such a session. Some students may prefer to consult their classmates, search information on the Internet by themselves or just follow other students when they start their studies. Coordinators may feeldisappointed to some extent.

Task 2

Some people prefer to have a job that has a regular schedule, which means you may go to work at 9 in the morning and get off work at 17 in the afternoon. Some people prefer to have a job that has a flexible schedule, which means you may don't have to go to work at a certain time and you can arrange your own schedule. Which one do you prefer and why?

Personally speaking, I prefer to choose the latter one.

Firstly, this choice may help me save time. I may arrange my schedule to avoid the traffic jam in rush hours. However, if choosing the first one, in my city when everyone goes to work and gets off work at a certain time, the traffic will be very congested, you may spend 2 more hours than the normal time in commuting.

Secondly, this way may help me save money. For example, in my city, normally I may only spend around 10 dollars by taxi in commuting 15 kilometers. However, if choosing the first one and meeting the traffic jam, because of the waiting time, I may have to spend around 20 dollars by taxi in commuting the same distance.
