Second, Students can find the best professors in the world in America. They are the most experienced group of scholars a student can learn from. 一般而言,對于新托??谡Z中的關(guān)鍵詞和關(guān)鍵句應(yīng)該慢讀,做到充分理解,牢牢把握;而對非關(guān)鍵詞和非關(guān)鍵句應(yīng)加快閱讀速度,留出多于時間,用以反復(fù)閱讀重點句或歸納總結(jié)。例子如下:

A lot of people think that cultural anthropology is just about studying the special and strange aspects of a society, but anthropologists are also interested in the aspects of life that seems so ordinary that the people in the society think they are not significant.
在托福口語練習(xí)時讀的過程中我們很容易找到關(guān)鍵詞,如:cultural anthropology, the special and strange aspects of life, but, anthropologists, interested, ordinary, significant。這些關(guān)鍵詞反映了此句的主要信息:"許多人認為文化人類學(xué)就是研究特殊而奇怪的社會現(xiàn)象,但人類學(xué)家有時還對一些人們認為不重要的、看起來很普通的生活現(xiàn)象感興趣。

在托??谡Z第三題的考試中,很多同學(xué)在短時間內(nèi)找不到題目的核心,導(dǎo)致我們在回答的過程中容易跑題。今天我們就整理了一些技巧,幫助大家更好的掌握這些方法,完成托??谡Z考試。
首先我們在45秒內(nèi),要達到什么目的?沒錯,找到主旨句。什么是主旨句呢?能夠表達“誰?做了?什么事?”這樣的動詞短語或名詞短語都是主要意思的表達。以下題為例:
Housing Renovations Planned (TPO 11)
Over the last ten years, the number of Central College students living on campus in dormitories has decreased by twenty percent. In an effort to counteract the trend, the college has announced a plan to renovate its on-campus housing. The renovations will take two years, and they will include improvements to the bathrooms, lighting, and heating in the dormitories. “A lot of people are moving off campus because the dorms aren't in great shape,' explained the college president. “By renovating the dorms, we can make them more appealing than off-campus housing, and more students will choose to remain on campus.”
如果學(xué)生主句來看,能力高的學(xué)生會全部讀完。但大部分學(xué)生會剩余2-3句沒有讀完就進入到聽力部分了。我們一定要有一個概念:找信息。而非真的去逐句閱讀。我們要找的就是:Central College主體為大學(xué),帶有plan/decide/want等含義的動詞,以及renovate/cancel/change等意思的動詞。以及這些東西之后的名詞。換言之,我們要知道:誰打算做什么事。同時注意標題的提示作用,往往會將閱讀內(nèi)容呈現(xiàn)給同學(xué)們。
這個閱讀段子中我們找到的有:Central College, announced a plan, renovate its on campus housing. 那我們知道了,哦,原來是有修建這個事啊!
重新裝修的目的是什么呢?這是同學(xué)們要尋找的詞匯可能包含 in order to/to/because/can等詞匯。也要注意序數(shù)詞first, second等詞匯?;蛘遫ne, another等表達順序的詞匯。這就是學(xué)校決定的原因或是好處。這樣,我們就得到了: make them more appealing, more students will choose to remain on campus.
因此,閱讀部分我們的最終答案就有了模樣。聽力中的材料也會針對這兩點原因進行評價。同學(xué)們的評價分為基本兩種:同意與不同意。相信大部分考生都會區(qū)別出態(tài)度上的判斷。關(guān)鍵在于判斷之后,聽力材料中的一人將會大篇幅的評價。這個時候,很多同學(xué)會抓住主要內(nèi)容,也就是main structure,但是細節(jié)地方的論證會忽略。而另一類同學(xué)則正好相反,什么都想記,什么都記不全,就需要同學(xué)們首先有結(jié)構(gòu)的概念,能清楚分出兩人對話的層次,進而找到要點。
這道題的聽力對話比較容易識別女孩的態(tài)度,她開始就表示學(xué)校的決定是個mistake. 針對施工時間以及施工內(nèi)容,她更認為會打擾到學(xué)生。Noise/disturb等詞明顯地突出強調(diào)了她的態(tài)度。因此,這樣的觀點性結(jié)論及細節(jié)支持都必須包含在答案之內(nèi),這樣才具有說服力,才能駁斥學(xué)校的傻瓜建議。
男同學(xué)在此的角色也就是相聲中常說的“捧哏”, 說的內(nèi)容相對較少,通常起到轉(zhuǎn)化話題的作用。用的句子也是承上啟下的句子。從來轉(zhuǎn)移聽者的注意力。
同學(xué)們在做練習(xí)時,聽力筆記大可不必記錄“捧哏”的內(nèi)容,但要清楚地聽到“how about…/what about…”等含義的句子,為記錄聽力駁斥閱讀內(nèi)容的第二方面做準備。
