Motivation
詞組:light up, push oneself, be destructive to s/th, tap the potential, miss out;
Without motivation we're like a dead fish in the water, that kind of life is not worth living. we should constantly light up our internal fire and push ourselves harder to achieve our goals. While the lack of motivation is destructive to oneself, and one will feel depressed, and have a pretty low esteem. To make matter worse, one is not be able to tap the full potential within oneself, thus he or she would miss out the chance to be successful.
You can't change the past but you can change the future. We should understand that things don t always work out the way we expect. When we make mistakes, we ought to focus on solutions, not on regrets. As the saying goes, yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, but today is a gift, that's why we call it present.
It isn't talent that makes great artists, it's hard work, persistence, will power, determination, and fortitude. Not every great artist can draw nice pictures by the age of five.
Successful artists aren't underpinned by talent, it is an excuse not to put in the effort that is needed to be a successful artist. There are other more important factors like, to be able to seek out social connections, and build on them. Connecting with peers and mentors is more important than being talented.
Advanced education provides you with the tools you need to be successful in your future career. Not only can you acquire specific knowledge in a particular filed, like economics, physics, and biology, and stuff, you can also get practical experience in relevant areas, like psychological counseling, physical therapy, and even nursing.
The ability to build up social and professional connections and expand them is the key factor to be a successful business person, and in order to achieve that, one needs to be easygoing, cuz that makes ice breaking much more easier.

There is a humorous saying in English "The grass is always greener on the other side of the valley." The saying is used ironically to point out that there is a temptation in us all to insist that others are more fortunate than we are. This is nowhere more true than on the question of luck and hard work. When faced with the "bad times", we often find comfort in the idea that we are special in our degree of misfortune. I feel that such an attitude is negative, and that it can bring only further misfortune.
Many famously successful people have begun from small origins. Mao was the son of a (modestly prosperous) peasant; the explorer Captain Cook was so poor that, as a child, he had to work by day and study by night; many of the affluent Americans of today are the children of the poor immigrants of yesterday. Beethoven, it should be remembered, became deaf before the end of his career. There are many, many more people who have also made genuine, though Jess spectacular, successes against the odds.
Within his own terms, a person who is born into poverty in India is a great success if he manages to own a house in later life. Poverty cannot be reduced by merely complaining and blaming others: no matter how guilty other people are, each individual must reach out to success for himself. Indeed, some economists believe that the world operates by what they call "the rule of the jungle." They believe that in economics a person always attempts to gain profit from his neighbor: that given the chance the poor man would quickly make himself rich by trading to his own advantage.
Also, it is presumptuous to judge another according to his or her apparent fortune. No man can ever truly understand the sufferings of his neighbor. A man who appears comfortably rich may have suffered elsewhere in his life - through the death of a loved one, for example. Retired businessmen have often worked long hours in their youth. Surely, it must be wiser to respect achievement than to deny that anyone has achieved good in the world.
To rely on notions of luck - to believe that life is a kind of lottery - is an attempt to escape reality. Paradoxically, the only time a person can claim that luck is more important than work is when he reflects on his own success. Because of that modesty, the great man then becomes even greater.
TASK2 - Some people think in order to be successful, one has to make enemies. Do you agree or disagree, and explain why.
ZT2: Do you agree or disagree that to succeed we need to make enemies?
Task 2
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. Sometimes it is necessary for us to have enemies to be successful.
Sample:
I disagree, it’s not necessarily the case. First, there’re many definitions for success. To be successful is to lead a life that you intend to and enjoy, not a life necessarily with a lot of money. Say I feel that my mom is quite successful because she lives a happy life, but she obviously doesn’t have any enemies. And even for the people who are successful in career and with high social status, the effort they’ve spent along the way could be quite legitimate that wouldn’t have induced any serious conflict with others’ interests. Sure there must have been competition, but competition is common in any aspect of life which doesn’t always bring out hostile feelings. So basically I think the statement stands without solid ground.
Task 2
Well, I think the sentence holds water in certain situations. There is an old saying goes like, if you have not offended anyone, you wouldn't have achieved anything. To be successful, sometimes, you have to work really hard on your goals, so that means you are really devoted to your dreams, and have little time to consider interpersonal relations or let us say, the complex office politics. It is just impossible for everyone to like you in this world, nor do you have to strive hard to intentionally make everyone likes you. What you need to consider is to be excellent, produce good products and be valuable.
Personally, I think it is necessary to have enemies to be successful. For instance, as a student, if I know I have competitors in terms of academic performance, the peer pressure will motivate me to work hard to finish assignment, work on projects, and even stay up late to prepare for exams. Also, as a professional if I know I have my coworkers as my competitors, I will be more hardworking. I will be more patient to customers so that I can close more deals and make more profits for the company, at the same time I can enjoy a better chance to get promoted.
Do you agree or disagree that 18 year old students are mature enough to vote? (2015
Talk about an important political event in your country.
Describe a kind of traditional clothing in your country. (2016
