I love Corsage Orchid – the national flower of Brazil. Importantly, the flower grows in every condition but needs warmer temperature. I have a pot containing the flower at my room and they are growing very well. I keep the flowers in my room for their fragrance. They make a vibrant smell in the room. Often people term the flower as orchid queen for extraordinary features.

The plant requires ample light and air to grow. A moderate temperature is a must for the plant to bloom. The temperature needs to be relatively warm and should remain between 50 – 70 degree Fahrenheit both in day and night time for its smooth growth. But the growers are mindful to protect leaves from burning. Better if someone can manage an open area to grow the plant. Due to its easy growing method, the flower is popular among everyone including the professional and amateur gardeners.

Brazil is located in eastern part of South America. The climatic condition of the country supports the growth of such flower plants. Consequently, the flowers are available in plenty in Brazil. The history of Corsage Orchid to get the national flower status is interesting. Someone discovered this strange flower from some random leaves in Brazil and a few years later, the flower bloomed and enchanted everyone.

Corsage Orchid looks gorgeous. The flower fragrance makes me feel relaxed. The outer beauty of Corsage Orchid is adorable and when blooms, it takes a wonderful look. I love the particular fragrance I get in my room. The amazing colour of the flower enhances the room beauty. A large variety of the flower makes it more attractive to people. They shine brightly. So, I like the flower very much.

Describe an educational TV program that you have seen.

You should say:

What the program is

What type of program it is

What contents it has

And explain what you learned from the program

現(xiàn)在完成進行時:have / has been doing,注意助動詞have / has與人稱的正確搭配,以及動詞過去分詞的正確變形

最后,描述喜歡這個節(jié)目的原因,在這里給大家一個參考句式:the reason that I regard this program as my favorite one is that…,意為:我將這個節(jié)目視作自己最喜歡的節(jié)目是因為什么 那么喜歡一個節(jié)目的理由可以有:learn sth. from it;trigger my interest towards sth;a good tool to kill the time; makes my time count等等

Well, I would like to particularly talk about a TV program that I have been watching since I was a little kid called “Action English”.

I think it’s really hard to say what kind of program it is since it teaches you certain things in English but it’s also very entertaining. It starts at 6 p.m. everyday, and I still remember that when I was still in middle school, on weekends or holidays, I would just grab a pen and a notebook, sit in front of the television 15 minutes earlier and wait for the show.

There are three parts in the program. The first part introduces some classic movies and the host will pick out some slang from the script and explain the meaning of them. Then he will make some examples of the slang and repeat it for a few times. As for me, I’m just busy taking down notes every time. And the second part is always my favorite one since it’s all about music. The host will introduce an English song including its background information, lyrics and the story line. I think it always feels different when you listen to a song and know exactly what it’s talking about. Last but not least, in the third part, the host will introduce some western culture that we never have a chance to know. It’s just so vivid that makes me want to be there one day and see for myself!

Well, the reason that I regard this program as my favorite one is that it not only provides me with a relaxing and productive time during the holidays but triggers my interest towards learning English as well. It shows me the way of learning English from what I really love such as music and movies, after all, interest is the best teacher!

An art or craft activity話題

Describe an art or craft activity you did at school.

You should say:

When this happened

What you did in the activity

Who you did it with

and explain how you felt about this activity

When this happened: last semester/ last academic year/ a couple of years ago../ 當然也能說記不清什么時候參加的活動 my memory fails me and I cannot recall the exact date when I attended the craft activity

What you did in this activity:

papercut 剪紙

pottery 陶器

embroidery刺繡

Chineseknot 中國結(jié)

Photography 攝影

The activity that I remember be part of is the photography competition in my highschool, aiming to help students get familiar with photography and be more conscious about preserving traditional culture. Actually, the theme of the competition is “ Where is our tradition”, which means all the participants have to take a series of pictures of things related to our tradition or culture.

Who you did it with

Some of my classmates who were interested in photography and me formed a team and we did the project together. Some of my team members are really brilliant and professional in photography and some others are specialized in traditional stuff and history.

Talking about an art activity that I remember be part of is the photography competitionin my high school. Well, to be frank, my memory fails me and I cannot recall the exact date when I attended the craft activity but I am sure it must be in the high school.

The activity actually was kind a like a project, aiming to help students get familiar with photography and be more conscious about preserving traditional culture. Actually, the theme of the competition is “ Where is our tradition”,which means all the participants have to take a series of pictures of things related to our tradition or culture.

Some of my classmates who were interested in photography and me formed a team and we did the project together. Some of my team members are really brilliant and professional in photography and some others are specialized in traditional stuff and history. After we registered for the competition, we were really excited and eager to do it well. So, naturally, we did a lot of preparation, the whole group was divided into 3 teams, Team 1 was responsible for searching information on the Internet and Team2 to design the framework and album, and I was in the Team 3, taking the pictures. My team went to lots of places in my hometown and took lots of pictures, including paper cut, pottery, embroidery and even Chinese knot. We worked really hard for it after school because the time for us was quite limited, only 1 week I guess. For one or two days, we even burned mid-night oil together in my home. But, when we finished the album,we achieved great sense of fulfillment. I mean we really do something by ourselves. More importantly, through this art activity we learnt more and about our tradition.

1. Do you like making things by hand?

(If yes:)

Yeah I do. I find it quite fun making stuff by hand. You know, it kind of brings a certain amount of satisfaction once you’ve finished it, and you think “Wow! I made that!” So yeah, I enjoy making things quite a lot.

(if no:)

No, not particularly, because I’ve actually always found it to be a pretty frustrating experience. You know, something invariably goes wrong whenever I try to make something, so now I can never usually be bothered.

2. Do you like collecting things made by hand?

No, I can’t say I do. I mean, I’ve never really made the effort to collect anything made by hand. So it’s not that I dislike it, it’s just never been something that I’ve had the urge to do really!

3. Did you ever take handicraft lessons at school?

No, I never did, which I suppose is a bit of a pity, cos I imagine they would have been quite fun. But my classes were unfortunately limited to just the typical subjects that most schools offer, like Maths, Physics, Geography, those kinds of things.

4. Are handicrafts popular in China?

Yeah, I’d say they are, because we have certain handicrafts which are….um… how can I put it,…which are closely tied with our culture, such as paper cutting, which goes back hundreds of years in China, if not thousands. But I suppose it’s also fair to say that handicrafts have become a bit less popular in modern times, simply because of all the technology that’s crept into our lives!

5. Do you think children should learn more about handicrafts?

Yeah I’d say they definitely should, because first of all it’s fun, and children tend to learn more when they’re having fun. And I think it would also make them appreciate things more. You know, when you realize all the effort that goes into making something, you kind of appreciate it more. So yeah, I think it’s very beneficial for children to learn more about handicrafts.
