詞匯: University 大學(xué)
University - the best days of my life! I made lots of friends in my student dorm, went to greatparties, joined the debating society… and, well, I did some work too - but I must confess my lecturerswere verypatient with my tardiness.
It's easy to look back at our university days through rose-tinted spectaclesbut the truth is that when we first arrived on campus, mostof us were out of our comfort zone.
In fact, a survey of students at Imperial College London has revealed that 3 out of 4 students experiencehigh levels of stress, or a mental healthcondition, during their time at college. The survey, completed by over a thousand students, also found that 70% of those that experiencestress do so at least once a week, and 9% of students feel stressed constantly.
Kirsty, a student at Exeter University, didn't enjoy her first days in college. She says: "When I first got to university I don't think I'd realized that I'd forgotten how to make friends. I'd been with the same school friends for seven years, and so I was trying tobalancesocialsuccesswith academicsuccesswhilst learning howto look aftermyselfat quite a young age."
Dr Ruth Caleb of the counselling serviceat Brunel University in London has some tips that should make life easier for students before they set off for university. She says: "Certain things that I think it would be veryhelpful for students tohave put in place are an ability to do the practical things of life – to do the washing, to do the cleaning and so on – being able to cook. Budgetingis extremely important in university life." And Caleb adds: "You should learn how to spend time on your own comfortably."
Igraduatedand learnt how to take care of myself the hard way. I hope that new students these days remember to acquire some life skillsbefore they make the big jump.

雅思口語(yǔ)描述校園活動(dòng)
Describe an interesting event in your school
You should say:
What was the event
When was the event
Why was it interesting
And explain how you felt about it
a native answer
I was in the third grade at the local primary school in Montreal, Canada when the event took place. It was about participating in a quiz competition and I won the first prize there. I was awarded a certificate and a nice piece of water jar as a recognition. In fact, it was the first achievement of my life. During the school days, I have achieved many other prizes and in the later part of the college, I also secured a notable number of awards. But the memories of the first award in my school is still vivid in my mind. In fact, it was the beginning of the journey. Thank you for this interesting question. It reminds me of my school days. I am turning nostalgic. Here I will describe the event in brief.
It was an inter-class quiz competition. Since I had a neck to know about everything by reading books since an early age, I attempted at the event. My mom also inspired me to participate in the competition. Actually, she inspired me most to be at the competition and also told me that I do not have to win the event. She wanted me to increase my knowledge and experience from that early age. Finally, I took part there and it was a grand success for me. I won the first prize in that inter-class quiz competition. And since then, I have never been second in position in the other competitions I took part in.
The event is still memorable for many reasons. I was a girl of hardly seven years old. And it was really daring to express the intention to take part in a heavy competition. The questions were made based on categories. I selected two categories and correctly answered all the questions. When it was in a group, I tried to score the highest point for my group. The competition was tougher. Most of the participants were my seniors and I was the youngest competitor among them. So, many of them ignored me and when I won the prize, it was a nice reply from my part to them. Hence, the memories are still awake in my mind.
The feelings are sweet. I was a little girl then and now a matured lady. But this time, I have undergone a large number of sweet and sour experiences in my life. I have won in battles, I failed. I stood up again. But the beginning of this battle started with the winning of the quiz competition in my childhood. After that event, I have won many prizes in home and abroad. But the feelings are not the same as it was for the first quiz competition. I feel charmed for that event.

范文
In the university, various after-class activities are full of students’ life. Some interesting and hilarious things also appear in these activities. However, I want to tell you something interesting happened in class.
It happened in the English writing class in the first year of my college. The teacher of our English writing class was a British man over 60. He was strict with our homework and attendance of this class because of his high academic quality, but his humor also causes a burst of laughter during the class. Therefore, every classmate loved him but also was afraid of him, except for one guy. This guy was a little loose. Although he attended every class and handed every piece of homework, he always slept in the class and the quality of his homework was not very satisfying. The teacher talked to him many times but he never changed his behavior.
One day, a usual writing class on Wednesday, this guy fell asleep again in the class. Mostly, he had slept for 10 to 20 minutes then continued to listen to the teacher. However, he had slept for over 30 minutes in this class and no sign of awakening appeared. The teacher was pretty angry and everyone held the breath to see what would happen. Out of everyone’s surprise, the teacher didn’t shout loud or make noise to wake him up. He just took a bottle of water and pour slight water onto the guy’s head to frighten him to awaken. At the moment the guy got thrilled of this mischief, everyone burst into laugh.
The mischief from our writing teacher is not just an amusement for me. It shows his wisdom of teaching. When students make mistakes, the condemn or rebuke is never his first option to treat students. The mild way that makes them realize their mistakes sometimes is more efficient than the hard way.
