The map below is of the town of Garlsdon. A new supermarket (S)is planned for the town. The map shows two possible sites for the supermarket.

The map shows two proposed sites for a supermarket in the town of Garlsdon, which has a population of 65,000.

The first site (S1) is located in the northwest of the countryside, just between the main road and the railway. This site would be very convenient for shoppers from the nearby residential area of Garlsdon and the town of Hindon (10, 000 potential customers). Since the residents from the other two nearby towns，Bransdon and Cansdon, cannot access the town centre by car, they would have to travel by train.

Another suggested site, S2, is located in the heart of the town, much more convenient for the locals. In terms of business coverage, this plan seems to be able to reach all surrounding towns. However, it is a long way to drive for customers coming from Bransdon, Crandon and Hindon, and they would expenence difficulties to park their vehicles and to access the town centre.

It is clear that neither of these two plans are ideal for all target customers, but the proposal of S1 is more convenient as it Is easier to travel to.
